Are you kidding? All of this talk of the early season accomplishments of this "coach" are ridiculous. All you have to do is look at his record to see this guy is mediocre at best and downright awful most of the time. He couldn't win in Phoenix with a 2-time MVP and he got run out of New York. The fast pace style of play he purveys is entertaining at times, but does not produce championships because, put simply, when the playoffs start, the pace slows down. Possessions become more valuable and deliberate. What you will see for the rest of the Laker season is what we have seen already: Close wins over sub-par teams and blowouts against the elites. Want more evidence of D'Antoni's failings? Look at his childish comments in response to Pau Gasol's reservations concerning his offensive system. To paraphrase: "He knows how to line up at the pay counter to collect his check..." Very classy, "coach."
