Steve Blake Out 3 Weeks After Stepping On Spike Strip

Steve Blake experienced what sounds like a very painful injury that will keep him out of action through at least the first two weeks of training camp before the start of the 2011-12 2012-2013 NBA regular season. Blake apparently injured his foot when he stepped on a spike strip in a parking lot, causing a puncture that will force him to miss at least the next three weeks of action.

Blake is slated to be the backup point guard behind Steve Nash for the new-look Los Angeles Lakers, so this will open up playing time opportunities for the individuals behind those two. Chris Duhon is one possibility; Duhon was one of the leftovers in the blockbuster Dwight Howard trade and averaged about 20 minutes per game during the regular season as a backup guard. Darius Morris is the other possibility; Morris played 19 games last year and averaged 8.9 minutes and 2.4 points per game.

Lakers training camp starts next week.
