The 1996 Draft Class still making an impact

Stay connected for news and updates

The talent from the 2003 NBA Draft made a big splash this season as draftmates Lebron, DWade, and Bosh all helped Miami take home a title. Even the Heat's James Jones was taken in the second round of this draft. Players from the 1996 draft class may have a big say in who takes home the title next season. While top picks Allen Iverson, Marcus Camby, Shareem Abdur-Rahim, and Stephon Marbury were the most coveted players, they are not very relevant anymore. But others are. Ray Allen, picked 5th overall - has just joined the Heat. Kobe Bryant, picked 13th overall - is still very much relevant. Steve Nash, picked 15th overall - has just joined the Lakers. Even Derek Fisher, picked 24th - may still knock down a big shot before it's all over. Not a lot of players are still in demand entering their 17th NBA season, but these guys could play a key role in who holds up the trophy come next June.
