Ever since the Miami Heat won the championship (barf) I have been reading all of the draft and trade rumors going around the NBA, and I came up with a way I think makes the Lakers better. We should trade Andrew Bynum to the Pacers for Danny Granger, Roy Hibbert and the 26th pick of the draft. That should be the cornerstone for which to make any and all other moves around. Hibbert is 7'2" and is probably the 4-5th best center in the league, so we do take a small step backward, but we get a good character guy without all the drama and we add an athletic 6'9" small forward that has averaged 22-18.5 points a game for the last 3 seasons... which I believe would be a great compliment to Kobe on the wing. Then we can figure out what to do with Gasol... If the Hawks really want Gasol for Josh Smith, Zaza Pachulia and the 23 pick then we have added some depth and athletism (plus a couple of late first rounders). Then we talk with the Mavs and Clippers about Lamar Odom. Rumor has it Clippers would take on Lamar and send Mo Williams to the Lakers and Dallas gets to dump money, but I think the Lakers should demand their remaining 16th pick to sweeten the deal from the Mavs... Then we would have 3 fist rounders... which we could package in another deal for Howard or Lowry or whoever... even if we did nothing else we would have... Mo Williams and Kobe at Guard, Granger and Smith at forward and Hibbert at center... off the bench we could (if we resign Sessions) have Sessions, MWP, Hill, Pachulia... or we could amnesty MWP and still be younger and more athletic and have three picks while being deeper.
