One of the greatest rivalries in the NBA will be renewed tonight as our beloved Los Angeles Lakers visit the Boston Celtics. Both squads entered the season with more questions than answers, and both have struggled in games. Recently, however, Boston appears to have found some answers en route to five straight wins, and a 10-2 record since starting 5-9.

The Lakers' struggles are well documented, and it goes without saying that a win tonight means more contribution from anyone outside of our Big 3. Much needed practice time was welcomed yesterday, as Coach Mike Brown used the time to go over defensive adjustments.

He was a little chippy today," said Kobe Bryant. "He’s such a defensive-oriented coach, there were a lot of things that he saw that we needed to go over, because this was only really our third practice of the season.

A Kobe quote! Guess what that leads to? A Kobe article, where he thinks the Lakers are not done changing, and some tweaks will be made. May I suggest, Kobe, Adam Morrison?

Some names might have come and gone and these teams may not be clear Contenders, but dammit it's still L.A vs Boston, no matter what people think.

I wish the Lakers can get both as well Kobe.
When pressed and asked if he would rather play with Orlando’s Dwight Howard or New Jersey’s Deron Williams, two players who have been linked to dozens of trade rumors this season, Bryant played along.

“Give me both, how about that?” Bryant said with a laugh.

What to expect via ESPN

In those rare moments a little light escapes from L.A.’s black holes, they have a chance. Via HoopsStats.com, the Lakers are 29th in point production at the point (12.9 ppg), and dead last at small forward (11.6, dropping to 8.8 on the road) and off the bench (20.2 overall, 18.2 on the road). Maybe it’s Derek Fisher hitting a few shots, or Metta World Peace outperforming his 32.6 percent mark from the floor, or Matt Barnes ending his slump of the bench. If they can widen the Big Three’s margin for error, the Lakers can win.

First of all I applaud the Adam Morrison inclusion

He may not come back to the NBA, yet, because he hasn’t finished blessing Europe with his presence. Aside from that, nice Perkins quote, and for a guy I’ve always felt was a pocket-thug this quote really rings true. I like the guy, frown and all, a little more. Respect given.

"You don’t see Kobe [Bryant] tweeting," Perkins said. "You don’t see Michael Jordan tweeting. If you’re an elite player, plays like that don’t excite you. At the end of the day, the guys who are playing for the right reasons who are trying to win championships are not worrying about one play. They also are not tweeting about themselves talking about going down to No. 2. I just feel [James] is always looking for attention and he wants the world to like him."

I was at the game

They actually did screw them, pretty strongly, repeatedly. It was a little humorous, since I’m not a Warriors fan, but I felt sorry for them not getting the calls at the end of the game in their OWN home arena, LOL.

by Jevon O on Feb 9, 2012 9:53 AM PST up reply actions

The OKC Sterns have always gotten the calls

They had a huge FT disparity over us in the 2010 first round, they won the game at Portland a few days ago after a horrible goaltending call against LaMarcus Aldridge allowed OKC to send the game into OT, and Golden State got screwed the very next night.

by The Dude Abides on Feb 9, 2012 10:10 AM PST up reply actions

Well to be fair

they’ve got a bunch of athletic players barreling to the rim every other play.
But yeah, some of the calls for them have been questionable.

Quality is our dignity. Service is our lift.

The game I was at

The problem was Durant driving hard then pulling up for a jumper and them calling a bump that supposedly happened on the beginning of the drive, thus giving him a free pull up jumper then two free throws. On the other end, Monta or Lee would dive hard at the goal and get no call. Then, at the end, Lee and Ellis were hacked visibly by Ibaka and Westbrook on two separate plays and the ref’s gave the Warriors no love. It was rough. But, the game was excellent.

Yes. Its interesting that he barely got his shot on the last day of the summer league

only because the guard on his team got hurt.

but..but we aren't winning anything this year : * )

There is still time, no need to jump off the Mitch and Lakers bandwagon yet. bandwagon fans!! As Kobe said, just be “patient” give it time.

“Now, I don’t think that’s the case. They obviously tried to pull the trigger on a trade that they thought was going to improve our team with CP and it just didn’t happen. But, that shows me that they’re thinking in the right direction in terms of doing things to improve our ballclub. So that’s why I’m not really tripping on it. We have to be patient and we have to make the right moves and I’m sure we will.”

With this current roster

I’m not sure…. Doesn’t look bright. But I’d like to see what happens after March 15 before I have a definite answer

I'm really glad the Lakers are showing respect for everything he did,

we’d be 3 banners worse without the big fella, and I still love what he did for the Lakers even if it came with the drama that followed.

I agree...

But for Blake’s sake I would much rather him take an extra day or two off to ensure he is 100%. The last thing the Lakers need is for Blake to rush back tonight, catch and elbow from Garnett, and be out for another 4 weeks.

If what Kobe said will happen in terms of the team making a tweak or change that it isn't

in the form of another PG but a guard. If the guard that they get is good enough then they can survive with the current PGs that they currently have on the roster.

I think we can survive with Fish, Blake, Glock & kobe @ the 1 and 2.

its the 3 that is killing us.

a backup c would be nice too.

Having Blake back is huge.

But yeah, the 3 provides us ZERO offense… I think Ebanks should be put back in because of his offensive ability (albeit slight), but better than anyone else.
