Starring: The Lakers survive a wild fourth quarter that was beginning to spiral out of control. A controversial non-call nearly cost the Lakers the game. The Lakers won 93-89 over the Denver Nuggets in a hard fought battle:
"Our execution down the stretch wasn't good. We turned the ball over, we were sloppy, we didn't move the ball in the right spots at the right time. We made it really hard on ourselves," Brown said. "But having said that, it's good to get a win. We kind of found a way to grind it out and stick with it. We relied on our defense, and our defense got us a win in a tough environment."
Andrew Bynum led the Lakers with 24 points as Kobe played distributor after starting the game shooting poorly:
After the game on Altitude's broadcast, Kobe was asked if Karl's defensive strategy bothers him. Kobe replied that Karl's teams have never defeated him in a playoff series ... face slap.
In other news, apparently Dwight Howard says "Kobe messed it up" and he won't sign an extension if traded to the Lakers. He is also trying to force his way to the Nets now. Also, Kobe Bryant is the Western Conference's Player Of The Month.

how the hell did kobe..
“mess it up”? tell me…..
Yeah he missed me with that one......
Kobe probably told him that if he came here he would be great on defense, but would be lacking in offense. I dont know, and I dont really care no more. If we get him cool, if not we move on. We are the LAKERS, we will always be competitive. We will always find a star or a player to come to our franchise. If he wants to bounce to the Nets, thats great! But he saw what Dwill did in Utah with Boozer…… No rings!

are you comparing boozer to dwight???

I think we all want to know the answer to that one!!
how the hell did kobe.. "mess it up"? tell me…..
I just tired of the incessant rumours and drama already! Just do the trade, Orlando, this is getting more ridiculous than the Melodrama last season.

What does anything Shaq have to say be construed as "Kobe messing it up"?
doesn’t make sense to me. i’m raising the bs flag.

the wierd thing is, the lakers are still on the list of destinations howard wants to go
Follow me: @theshmoes.
but supposedly now he won't sign a long term contract?
i bet if he comes to the Lakers and we continue winning and get deep into the playoffs… he’ll reconsider.

So that means he wants to be traded for Kobe?

According to Berger, whom I trust way more than Kennedy, the "Dwight doesn't want to go to the Lakers" thing is bull.
Despite assertions to the contrary, the Lakers remain firmly on Howard’s list of three teams he’s asked to be traded to, along with the Nets and Mavericks, multiple people familiar with the situation said. The Lakers’ clear preference is to trade Pau Gasol in a Howard deal and not Andrew Bynum, who was elected as an All-Star starter for the first time this week. League sources say Nets officials have remained in constant communication with Deron Williams and are encouraged by the All-Star point guard’s improved take on the franchise’s outlook. Though everyone involved acknowledges the Nets’ dilemma: If New Jersey is unable to land Howard, it will be difficult to persuade Williams to join the team in Brooklyn next season. One league front-office source described the Nets as being in wait-and-see mode. “If Orlando said to the Nets, ‘Go get this player [to complete a Howard trade],’ they’d go get that player,” the person said.

so andrew bynum is untouchable now?
bynum and howard on the floor together…. we’d limit teams to 50 points a game
Follow me: @theshmoes.
LOL, that would be cool
Weird looking, but cool….. I say its unlikely though. I mean cant we just fast forward to March for the deadline to come. Its gonna be hecked just like it was at the start of the season. Thats why Im not gettin to up or down on the performance of our team. Cause I know that soon we may have a totally new line up

...........and limit their own scoring. That's not a good lineup, unless the Lakers trade
Bynum in a separate trade for something cool.
I agree. Pau for Dwight, and then trade Bynum for Deron Williams...
Dwight-Kobe-Deron: that’s a lineup I’d love to see! But I really, really doubt Orlando takes Pau for Dwight…not even Otis Snmith is that crazy, lol.
We’d probaby have to get a 3rd team to send younger pieces and even then it’d be a stretch!

and have barnes or MWP play center?…cmon now….
by Mark Jaramillo on Feb 6, 2012 9:10 AM PST up reply actions
Why would Barnes or MWP have to play center in that scenario?

pau for dwight/bynum for deron...
i was talking for back up purposes. mcroberts would get hammered in there cuz that would be our only option after howard.

no please not pau
dude is the one who makes the twin tower system work (if there really is a system). his passing, little bit of driving ability and ability to space the floor makes having him and drew possible. on offense we would be terrible as hell, but we wont let teams score more that 85 points.

It has to be because we'll trade Bynum to another team
Bynum and D12 on the same team makes little sense.

or does it make it insanely good sense?
by AV. on Feb 4, 2012 10:19 AM PST via iPhone app up reply actions
It makes no sense whatsoever.
Although, stranger (read: dumber) things have happened in this league the past year.

Well. put it this way.
If you can get Howard for Pau, Bynum is an infinitely better trade piece to fill the rest of the rotation. Deron Williams, for instance, becomes a far more legit possibility. That or you could demand a crapton of assets from a team in the lottery, including some good picks. Obviously, going forward with a Bynum/Howard frontcourt is iffy, but you definitely make the Pau/Howard swap over the Bynum/Howard swap due to Bynum’s greater value in the trade market.

Exactly Bynum is the more attractive trade piece overall
which is why the Magic would never trade Dwight without Bynum being in the deal. It would make no sense.

well they would if Pau was the best deal out there, I mean he is gone anyway if they do not trade him right???

the question becomes will the nets be able to offer them something better than pau that would make us offer up Bynum

Whatever it is just get it done
As long as it is not one of those minor trades, Im cool. We are good now to me. We are starting to look a little better. Defense is great. 3’s are starting to fall. MWP s playing excellent D. Glock off the bench shooting lights out(and I was lobbing for DMorris lol). If we cant get the major moves cool. Get us an adequate PG, and we move on from there.

I'm at the point where I actually don't think we are going to do anything at all
The biggest “addition” I see to the current team is just getting Blake back from injury.
