Starring: Andrew Bynum and Kobe Bryant starting for the West's All Stars. Andrew Bynum makes his first appearance in the all star game and is understandably excited:
"For me, it feels good because this year, I'm putting up the numbers that qualify me for it, and the fans voted me in," he said. "So it's not like I was picked by the coaches out there.
"I can't wait to go."
Tonight, the Lakers are in Denver to face the Nuggets. Last month, the Lakers lost a close contest to the Nuggets on a tough back to back game. The Nuggets are just coming off a blowout of the Clippers, so the Lakers should have the edge in energy this game. When asked about the upcoming road trip, Metta World Peace replied with something totally unrelated:
"I grew up around roaches," he said. "And it was bad. Too many of them. To many friends, yeah, in New York. I got a lot of roach friends.
I'd wake up, they'd wake up in my cereal. They'd wake up like, you know, just Ron what's up, good morning. One leg in my macaroni, the other leg in my corn. They just made themselves comfortable at my home."
Also, are the Lakers eyeing "Skip-2-My-Lou" Rafer Alston?

The Lakers have no interest in Rafer Alston.
The Defenders got him because they need another PG besides Mardy Collins. Orien Greene has not been good at the point either. I assume Alston is taking Greene’s spot.

One thing they could possibly do..
Have Griffin at SF, Kmart at PF, and Jordan at C. This would cause all sorts of size mismatches, but it would only work if Griffin can develop a reliable shot, otherwise the lane would just get clogged on offense.

It definitely makes them better.
If for nothing else that it just shored up their glaring hole in the front court. More importantly it eliminated the need for them to have to shop Mo or Bledsoe around for frontcourt help for the playoff run, and Mo is going to be critical off the bench for them in the playoffs. It just basically fortified that team all the way around, pretty brilliant signing IMO. The best move the Clips have made all season, because we know we can’t give them credit for the Paul and Billups pick ups since they were gift wrapped and hand delivered by Heir Stern. Makes you wonder what the hell is really going on over there. Did they tie up and gag Sterling and stuff him in a water closet till the season is over?

I never said that throwing in is easy to do. Athletically it is remarkably impressive.
All I’m saying is that I don’t see it as an impressive dunk, especially compared to Kemp. They are/were crazy athletic, but Kemp dunks left no doubt as to what they were and the guy getting posterized had no doubt either.

Please, Perkins clearly was dunked on and dunked on hard. First of all four of his fingers touch the rim almost simultaneously as the ball goes through the hoop. Check the video.
You just want to be nitpicky about it then fine, but it was clearly a dunk. How about when players go up for dunks and just throw it through the rim 2 handed barely touching the rim with their hands, Kobe does it all the time. Is that not a dunk either? Like I said if you want to hate at least have good argument to back it up.

Context is everything. My comments were in context of Shawn Kemp.
Sure you count it as a dunk if your finger nails nick the rim. In that sense you’re accurate. If that impresses you then fine.
I prefer to see someone finish in order to consider it the dunk of the year.

There are quite a few words that change in meaning as time goes on. Dunk is one. It was athletic as hell but a dunk? No way. The fact that theres even a dispute about it is proof alone.

Get high enough and throw ball in the rim over the person.

or teams that were not contenders. The Heat, besides Bosh, are pampered players who didn’t have years of suffering. I hate KG, but he wanted to win at all costs. Lebron wants to win but loves his brand more. If you notice, Dallas were heartbroken by the Heat in the past and all of that frustration and doubts exploded in game six. You have to have the right combination of players.
I’m so happy with Glock right now. But im not trying to get too high on him. I had a rant days ago about so many supposed shooters the Lakers had only to be let down. Sasha, Shannon, Blake etc.

difference with those three guys is, they can shoot for hours and the gym during practice without missing, but they never showed more then just glimpses of their potential during game time. with Goudelock, i’m gonna say i’ve been following up on him ever since Lakers picked him up during the draft, so i am high on him. however, when he shoots you feel like its gonna go in. and he doesnt look like he has to get Hot to get on a roll, well see, i’m staying level headed though. just happy to start being on the right side of the win column.

That is the question that I came in thinking into this season in terms of
the coaching and players. The one thing that has given me hope, and maybe i’m wrong, is that under Brown, the Lakers, compared to last year, are a better defensive team. They have slipped in rebounding a bit though. Second, under Brown, as the first games have shown, is willing to use the younger players, making them a faster team than last years team. IMO. I would even argue that LO’s departure has allowed for that to happen even more. The one issue now is that there isn’t a single other player that can create for himself or shoot from the outside. Glock has shown some of that, but only time will tell how consistent he can be. To anwer your question, only the playoffs will tell us that. With Kobe on the team, anything is possible.

hes never been to the finals. i wouldnt mind him here at all. thing is, the dudes fiercly loyal to the suns! it would be difficult with them. they would want gasol or someone like that.
