The Credits: "Valentine's Day"
The Lakers returned to the comfortable confines of the Toyota Sports Center yesterday, finally back home after the long road trip. Mike Brown wasted no time, having players run through some light drills and shooting.
Most of the questions asked at practice centered around Gilbert Arenas. No one would comment much about him, opting instead to brush off the question. Pau took a whole 14 seconds to gather his thoughts, and even took a couple of glances to his left and right, possibly wary of Lakers Officials, before he gave a very Pau Gasol answer:
"We just need to play better," Gasol said. "We don't need a particular player. As a team and a player, your mind-set is to work with what you have. We have enough talent here to be able to play better and more consistent. Having said that, I don't know what we need. You tell me."
It shouldn't come as a surprise to hear that the only Laker who did say something was Kobe Bryant.
"It surely wouldn't hurt," Bryant said Monday after practice at the Lakers' facility in El Segundo. "That's for sure."
For now, the Lakers should concentrate on their next opponent, the Atlanta Hawks, and leave the rumors to us, the blogs. Only 6 games remain before the All Star break, and it would be terrible to have another 3-3 split.

The Lakers owe me a Valentine’s Day gift for breaking my heart in too many games this season. Tonight…please.
Methinks if Kobe is in favor of Arenas, we won't get him.

it's not really up to Arenas, yet....
Lakers gotta offer him a contract first… THEN he decides, yea or no…
The problem here is the Front Office, are they gonna make a move?
"Where Yo Curleh Mustache at!?"
Something's got to happen
The line up is really sad and crappy as it stands. They could at least turn Swagbro into a cyborg.
Is that Basketball Reasonable enough?
“My teammates know that. But to say, ‘How can I fit in?’ It’s easy; give him the ball and space out. I get back to doing what I know how to do best. So we’ll see.”
Amare does not have to change at all and just do what he does naturally; either roll to the basket or hit the mid range/or fake and drive off it, but Melo will have to change because up till now, he has needed the ball in his hands looking for his shot which has lead to a lot of iso’s. His ballhandling skills and quickness are ok, so he is not the best at trying to be a point forward and the offense gets stagnant a lot of the time. He is not a back to the basket post player really either (can do some of that) so I guess he will have to spot up and hit some threes or get in some pick and rolls with Lin and play the Amare role at times if Lin is running the offense.
I will still wait to see how Lin is doing twenty games into it, but if he is the real deal I really have my doubts about Melo adjusting, but it will be interesting to see what happens regardless.

Karmas a...
bit*h Stern. You screwed us over, so now your star player goes down! HA! Now don’t get it twisted, I would never wish harm on a player, except maybe a certain player down in Florida, but just goes to show you everything comes around. I hope Gordon goes to Indiana next season and NO gets nothing in return
