Lakers Waive Andrew Goudelock

Kelley L Cox-US PRESSWIRE

In line with our expectations, Andrew Goudelock was waived today to bring the Lakers' roster to fifteen. Whether this is the roster the Lakers will start the season with is up in the air.

With the final set of cuts coming before the start of the season on Tuesday, we have the story on Andrew Goudelock being waived from Lakers.com's Mike Trudell:

The Lakers waived Andrew Goudelock, who appeared in 40 games last year towards 4.4 ppg, today. Roster stands at 15.

Goudelock was drafted by the Lakers with the 46th pick of the 2011 draft. A consummate scorer at the College of Charleston, Goudelock found it difficult to transition to the point guard role that his lack of height and athleticism would require in the pros. Although he experienced some success last season filling in as the primary point guard backup while Steve Blake was injured, he was widely expected to be one of the roster casualties in training camp because of his non-guaranteed contract. Whether the Lakers will attempt to retain him on their D-League affiliate is something to keep an eye on.

Finally, we still do not know whether Darius Johnson-Odom, who has survived training camp thus far despite rarely playing in the preseason, will ultimately retain his roster spot. The team now has fifteen players and whether they will stay there or go to fourteen for added flexibility is something the front office will have to decide upon. Either way, DJO will most likely find himself in the D-League in order to continue his development. We will keep you apprised on any updates to the situation.
