We still await word on Kobe Bryant's foot, with the Mavericks game a few days away now. Will he be ready to play by Tuesday's season opener against Dallas? Perhaps more will be revealed as the weekend concludes, but for now Mike Trudell has quoted Mike Brown as saying this in regards to Bryant's status.
In the meantime, Kobe has taken to his Facebook page to provide a few tidbits for fans, the first picture may be unsuitable for any Lakers fan to see.
"Elevation, ice, and manual therapy at Lakers facility. Gotta get right!"
The second picture is something we all might be used to. You know, taking a helicopter to get therapy on our ankle. With our K-9 companion, obviously.
"Cesar and the choppa. On our way to ankle therapy."
Yep. No big deal. That's usually how I travel to any of my appointments. More news on the injury, and Kobe Bryant's availability to start the season as it comes in.

Tonight is the Lakers final preseason game, which Kobe Bryant has already been ruled out of with a severe strain in his foot. Collectively, as Lakers fans, that’s no big deal. It’s the preseason, let the man rest. The games that begin to matter start in less than a week, and surely Kobe will be ready by then. No way he’d miss opening night against a Dallas team that swept the Lakers two years ago. Not so fast, according to ESPN Los Angeles...
"I don't know if he'll be ready," Brown said after the Lakers 97-91 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday. "So yeah, I guess there is question. I'm just going to wait for Gary Vitti to tell me he can play because there's nothing I can do about it until they release him anyway."
I’m not panicking… I’m not panicking… I’m no-
The Lakers have been extremely veiled in their injury assessments this preseason, so there’s that to consider. Doomsday scenarios aside, we’ll just have to wait and hear what the status is. Thankfully there’s still a good stretch of time until opening night, and if the discomfort dies down, this should be a non issue. I mean, come on, Kobe Bryant would play if he had two peg legs. Updates as they come.

And that's a wrap for Kobe Bryant's preseason. Mark Medina reports that Kobe will sit out the remainder of preseason with a bruised foot.
Bryant will sit out of the team's final two exhibition games because of a bruised and strained right foot. The Lakers play the Clippers tonight at Staples Center and then travel to San Diego where they will go against the Sacramento Kings Thursday in their final exhibition .
While disappointing, considering we all want to see the Lakers starters continue to figure things out, the extra week of rest prior to the opening tip-off for the actual season can't hurt. Jodie Meeks and Devin Ebanks should see extended minutes at the two slot with the starting lineup flanking them, so this is a good exercise to see them settle down as complementary role players.
On the plus side, there has been no indication that this is an injury that will force Bryant to miss any time going into the regular seasons, so no harm, no foul.

What would a fantastic preseason from the Lakers be without another game without a starter? According to Mike Trudell, Laker fans should brace themselves for Jodie Meeks to start in place for Kobe Bryant.
At the very least, it gives Jodie Meeks another chance to gather playing time with the starters, which will help his role as the spot-up specialist to continue to develop. As we've been saying here, the bench is having a hard time scoring as a unit. Placing him with four other starters should help him find his way.
Hey, at least Jordan Hill should make his return. Glass half full people!
