Superman 2.0

Dwight1_medium

Recently, ESPN NBA insider, Chris Palmer tweeted that if the Lakers can win the West then Dwight Howard will win the MVP award. It got me thinking could he be right?

"If the Lakers win the West, Howard wins MVP. Unless LeBron does his Oscar Robertson thing again."

And with the superhero numbers he projected D12 to produce there would would be a legitimate case for him to win it.

"Dwight Howard (2012-13) projections: 22 ppg, 14 rpg, 62% FG, 51% FT"

In my eyes the only thing standing in the way of the award is a 6'8 250 pound freak of nature named LeBron James. Honestly, the way LeBron and Heat have been playing and how the East is a little weak this year, it would be tough for anyone other than James to get MVP.

Maybe the voters will get tired of voting James MVP like what seemed to happen to Dwight last year when he finished 3rd in the Defensive Player of the Year voting. You never know.

Could the current Superman (Ironman?) do what the former Superman (Shaq) did for this great organization and win an MVP award? Who knows? All I know is if Dwight puts up those numbers Chris Palmer projected, I think the Lakers will be in a pretty decent postion.
