Mark Medina speaks!
Lakers should still covet Dwight Howard over Andrew Bynum
But it boggles my mind that Bynum’s three games, in which he’s averaged 22.7 points on 62.2% shooting and 17 rebounds suddenly changes everything, at least among the majority fans who voted in that poll. Bynum’s strong start may have surprised even his most ardent supporters and assuaged the Lakers’ feeling that they need to make a major move in order to contend for a title. But that doesn’t mean the Lakers still shouldn’t pursue Howard at Bynum’s expense.

Comparing Bynum’s stat line to Howard’s (19.1 points) on 58.9% shooting and 16 rebounds remains hogwash. Howard remains a more physical defender, more capable of playing through double teams and more importantly will remain healthy. Bynum says he feels 100% fully healed and he’s devoted more time to rehab his knee, but he remains adamant that he will wear a brace on his right knee for the rest of his career.

That grill is badass. Is that a mouth guard or an actual grill?

I know Ocho Cinco iced out his mouth guard when he played for the Bengals.

This whole

Kobe needs to shoot less thing is fine with me, it’s the same chorus, but for those talking about his usage rate, the TOs are really what’s heightening that right now and the fact that we’ve only played 6 games in which he’s shot a lot of shots at a much lower rate than he usually does. Last game he had TOs from looking for guys and them not being there. Bynum ran into this at times last game with the double teams as well. I think both of them will cut it down and hopefully Pau gets his grip back as time goes on as well. Our three guys can’t keep having more than 6-8 TOs/gm like this.

Paul Silas ladies and gentlemen
I can remember, we would be shooting [pre-game] layups, and he would go and pat me on the rump once before every game, and that would mean we were ready to go that night. But sometimes he would wait until like the last minute to do it, and I’d be waiting like, "When he is going to do it?" And then he’d finally do it, and it meant we were ready to go.

Oh, we need more youth, speed, and athleticism?

Then more Ebanks, Glock, and Morris and (a lot) less World Peace, Kapono, and Fisher. Even if they’re young, it’s hard to do worse than those guys. Why not attempt to solve the problem internally while FO tries to solve it externally?

Nick Young

Nick Young is starting to whine again in D.C. Wizards have to know he won’t be coming back. He could be a great pick up for the Lakers. We have two rebounding bigs. We could get away with a 3 guard offense, since Kobe can guard the SF. Package some picks and use Lamars trade exception.

Shit I've been hearing the same thing from LA Radio, Lakers fans, ESPN and everyone watching the lakers

GET THE BALL TO BYNUM! This is so telling from the Lakers Nation article above:

Win shares are a fancy little statistic that many pundits use to examine a player’s efficiency on the court, both offensively and defensively. The percentage a player receives demonstrates how much of a "win" can be attributed to that player’s performance. While the sample size is small, the Lakers’ best option for beating the competition is found in Andrew Bynum. See below:

but not 100% sure which comment(s) you are talking about.

by Jelly Bean on Jan 6, 2012 1:04 PM PST up reply actions

nvm..I know what you are talking about..I think.

I’ve changed my stance from what I thought before that Kobe should be off the court and the team offense should run through Bynum. I think that Bynum depends on Kobe being on the court to be effective. I think you said something similar. I agree with that completely. But, with both of them on the floor, I still think that offensively, Bynum should be option number one.

On top of that, it seems that I’ve been hearing that more and more here in LA. Some radio people have gone on rants talking shit about Kobe but I don’t agree with that. Without Kobe on the floor Bynum is going to find it hard to do what he does.

I apologize if you get mad by what I say, let me know when you take the stick out of your ass so I can continue commenting.

This also means that Devin Ebanks should have the offense hit him for a shot before Kobe

please read K. Pelton’s article on the misleading ways to read statistics because the Lakers nation article was a perfect example of less than well done critical thinking using statistics.
