LAL should at least revisit the LAL-hou nixed deal
Pau for Scola + Martin + Dragic or Budinger or T.Will + 1strd Pick
Scola is a poor man's Pau Gasol and is at least a solid starter. He's mid range game and hustle complements D.Howard and he plays hard every game.
Dragic and/or Budinger can either helps us at PG and back-up SG/SF, both are good offensive players with abilities to shoot 3 and drive to the basket.
K.Martin can be used to trade to a third team + 1strd pick for players the Magic coveted for Dwight.
Then trade Bynum + whoever we trade for K.Mart/or K.Mart +3 1strd(2012-dal-lal-ny via hou) pick in a deep class will surely entice the Magic at the very least.
The only problem is Houston is Playing good right now.

The only problem is Houston doesnt want this deal anymore.
Houston was willing to give up all those players to pair Pau with Nene or Pau’s brother Marc.
By bringing in Pau and getting rid of all those other players, the Rockets would have had enough cap space to sign a free agent center. That is now out the window.
This deal aint happening.

nope
read in the houston press that GM Morley would like to add a star pf/center even w/o the assurance of nene or marc since they still have two good young bigs (patterson&hill) to complement pau.

This shouldn't be a fanpost.

when do you think the all-purpose trade thread comes back?

I should probably put one up, huh?

I honestly wouldn't do this deal.
Apart from the already mentioned fact HOU wouldn’t want to either. The only HOU player I’m interested in now is Lowry…

Here is a slightly better version of the trade IMO if Houston is still willing to deal for Gasol
ESPN Trade Machine 3 team trade with LAL, HOU, & ORL
With how Howard is beasting lately, Bynum straight up probably won’t happen, and Bynum + Gasol is too much. This trade would lessen the loss of Gasol and although Scola<Gasol, Bynum is < Howard (plus Bynum<<Howard when you factor in Bynum’s injury rate). Turk and Dragic can both also create their own shot as well, which would really ease Kobe’s burden. Of course, we should wait and see if we can do Bynum for Howard and Gasol for Williams right before the trade deadline, but this would be an acceptable consolation prize if that doesn’t work out.
LAL Receives: Howard, Scola, Turk, Dragic
ORL Recieves: Bynum, Martin
HOU Receives: Galosh
Well, it's better than any other Bynum + Pau for Howard deal...
Would it actually work?

and then we trade MWP, Walton & Fisher
for D-Will.
LOL
Williams, Kobe, Barnes, Scola, Howard

thats actaully not bad for everybody but the nets.
i think they get screwed in the deal. but somehow the get a +3 wins…..

It's not unrealistic
Currently the best offer the Nets have is Bynum straight up, or Bynum + low-end Laker bench player. Bynum + a legit 20 point a game scorer is probably better than any other offer that will be available for Howard. Of course, this depends if the Rockets are still interested in Gasol, which I don’t know if it is still the case.

Sorry, my sarcasm meter broke yesterday
Brought it into the shop, they said it should be up and running within 24 hours or so
LOL, And how do you feel about this one game later?????????

we get Scola & Lowry in return.

I guess, if you don't want to win a championship
That team would contend , but a be a fringe contender. If Gasol plays aggressively and efficient = championship
by Fin Fan Forever on Jan 26, 2012 12:39 PM PST up reply actions
Kyle Lowry is a great PG though
and he’s always aggressive and usually efficient. So, I don’t think it’ll be that much of a problem to replace Gasol’s inconsistent ways. The only problem with trading Gasol as I’ve repeated ad nauseum is that we have no back-up C right now and any trade we do getting rid of him should be accompanied with a trade for a serviceable back-up C
"These things happened. They were glorious and they changed the world... and then we fucked up the end game." - Charlie Wilson

Im not saying the team wouldn't be good with Lowry
More like, saying Scola is a poor man’s Gasol is an insult to Pau, because when he honestly plays with aggression, the way he can play and the way that won two championships, he’s the best PF in the league. And that is a not only a championship team, but I think a favorite to win it all, under the consideration that the bench can knock down at least an average amount of shots.
Lowry, no question, solves the PG problem, but as you said the front court goes to crap. And its not just about Gasol’s inconsistencies, as it is “the switch” that he can turn on, that I think Lowry has turned on all the time. We just saw what happens when Gasol turns on the switch (his numbers would have been better if they kept the strategy going on Wed). And we still remember what happens when THAT Gasol plays, championships.

we’d be better off with lowry & scola, than pau, IMO.

Lowry & Scola
That trade will be better off for us, if we can get DH12 via other means like Bynum and whoever, then we will be good.
I'd take just Lowry if it came to it...

Man,
I’d love to believe we could sneak in Lowry, Scola, And Dwight for Bynum+Pau, but I just don’t know if I believe we could :(
How bout this
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=88snecf
Lakers get: Howard, turkoglu, Scola & dragic
Magic get: Bynum, Martin, Barnes, Dallas 1st round pick (from la), Knicks 1st round pick (from hou)
Rockets get: Pau, redick
I think all teams make out pretty well in the trade.

I agree, don't think ORL would give up Redick, but the deal might work even without him...

I thought about this kind of trade as well
I think we should give up Blake or morris to Houston as well, they don’t have a back-up for Lowry but for Dragic
