Around SBN: What If This Is It For The Celtics? End Of An Era Looming

What should be done?

With the Lakers loss to Orlando on Friday, and Miami on Thursday, something needs to be done. Some of you might disagree with me on this, but in all fairness, and honestness, Mitch Kupchak needs to go. Why did he trade Lamer Odom to the champions? And for nothing really? He's gone from an F manger to an A+ manger and now to a F manger. Wtf is he doing? Either way, roster moves are needed. Despite all this, we are an impact player PG away from an NBA title. The problem is we have nothing to give other teams that they want. Metta World Peace? He's an old fart and a headcase. Steve Blake? Nothing special about him, he is just Steve Blake, and Steve Blake only. Derek Fisher? Too old to have any trade value. Devin Ebanks? Most people don't know he is this good because he does not get his chance. Matt Barnes? He has the most trade value IMO of the five players listed, but not sure if he is an impact player.

Any thoughts on this would be welcome.

LOL, Mitch is in good company, I'd say.

He’s gone from an F manger to an A+ manger and now to an FA manger.

Sorry, couldn’t help it.

I'm just laughing here in my crib.

Y_E, not that Mitch makes all the personnel calls in a vacuum anyway, but how would you rate him if David Stern hadn’t exercised veto power?

Might wanna fix the poll's phrasing

as to ur question: we really don’t have anyone playing exceptionally well to be used as trade bait but our bigs, kobe, and blake, and barnes. Blake prolly most valuable to team’s looking for back-up pg and barnes good for someone needing defensive and hustle presence

I do too, or Gaines. NJ has 3 decent PG's that deserve playing time, but they rotate sticking Farmer and Gaines on the Pine since they have more talent at PG than they have space for

BUT… the thing is that if we get Farmar, then the Nets will be left with only 2 serviceable PG’s, which means they will want more for D.Williams, since they will be left with a gaping hole at PG if they give up both D.Will and Farmar. Best bet IMO, is to wait, trade for D.Will when the time comes up (after Howard is traded to any team but the Nets), then let the Nets start Farmer and let Gaines be his backup.

*I haven’t seen Gaines play, but he was on my fantasy team for much of the season and he put up decent enough stats.

If NJ doesn't get Howard, then they're in full rebuild mode, so Farmar can probably be had for a pick or something.

Doesn’t really matter what happens in the short-term. In fact, the worse they suck, the better, especially for this draft.

Billy Cundiff is prolly the only person in this moment in time with less

value than Fisher

none of those guys have value, really

Has to be Gasol and/or Bynum if you want to make significant changes. Also, I wouldn’t be so harsh on Mitch. The Odom trade looks bad right now, but he’s probably going to get someone before the deadline with the TPE. Plus, he tried to fix our woes with that ummm…other trade.

by shawism on Jan 23, 2012 12:04 AM PST reply actions

The sad thing is that the Paul trade actually showed that the FO knew what they were doing.

They knew that we needed a real PG for this offense, that Kobe needed someone to complement him, and that it would make life easier for the remaining bigs. Moreover, we still would have had a $8.9 million TPE to throw around for another four. So if anything, Stern derailed this season from the start.
