yeah because running thru a screen is such a masterful skill. those double backflips and somersautls it takes to get around a screen is tricky.
fighting thru and going over a screen is 95% mental and physical toughness to push thru it. it’s either in you or it isn’t

yeah the big hedges to recover. but when morris runs into a screen he gets blasted 3 feet off the set screen and looks like someone just shot him. like hes trying to draw a fould instead of pushing thru and trying to recover as fast as possible.
believe me i watch basketball just as much you do. getting thru a screen is all hustle and effort to recover on your player.

Easy to criticize a rookie when i see veterans have trouble all nba defensive players have trouble good players bad players and average players all have trouble some games. Blanket statements are usually wrong

this isn’t the Phil Jackson sleep through the regular season lakers. they should be trying to find out how to work together and prove to themselves that the new team has what it takes. im disappointed in how these lakers failed to rise to the challenge of playing a tough away game against an elite team. the heat have a lot less to prove and they’re hustling hard.

it could’ve been so much closer. heat had terrible 4th on offense and we completely failed to capitalize with anything

I think you're underestimating how bad their offense was in that 4th.
Like we outscored them by 10 points and just hitting shots, we could’ve outscored them by more

It was terrible, and they had a shot, but it was a very small one with little/no room for error
It would have taken more than just playing good/great basketball, it needed to be championship level and its hard to get there when you come out flat and have no momentum to do so

Little bit of both to me
Personally, I didn’t think LA would be good offensively @ this point in the season (I didn’t think they would be as bad as they’ve been either) , new offenses take time to learn and for players to feel comfortable in. Hopefully the shooting slump ends soon, MWP looked to be shooting a bit better and with just a tad more lift

They're that bad on offense right now
they can win games based on talents of our bigs and Kobe on some nights, but on nights where other teams can match those guys, we need SOMETHING else too. Kobe having an off game to start made this one further away. As he started hitting in 4th, we saw more of what game should be. The Heat shot 45% and they actually shot pretty bad in 2nd half cuz they were shooting much better. We gained better offensively throughout second half, but we missed gimmes at the end which pushed out fg% back down to about 40%. Cuz we were almost even in terms of shooting, just making less 3s and fts

yeah got sloppy and stopped attacking about the mid fourth. Lakers started to pound it inside with success late...
Kobe got going just a little to late—kind of scary when he got aggressive there

Was a great 4th for us
but we kept turning ball over with laziness. We lazily got back to below 10 points. If we could’ve made anything beforehand could’ve been a much better game

yeah, i have my doubts as well
unless some our players really step their game up. I mean Barnes develops a consistent 3 pointer, MWP gets in shape and gets some lateral movement back, etc. McRoberts seems to be the only role player playing at the level that a championship-level role player should be playing at.

Maybe it's just me, but as the season progresses I just don't have a lot of faith in Mike Brown.
I know it’s a 10-6 record coming from a lockout offseason and the defense has been great but I haven’t seen any improvements or really an identity in offense. Even when Kobe was dropping 40, Lakers couldn’t break 100. They look completely lost especially on the road.
what's he supposed to do?
the Lakers desperately need another dribble penetrator/slasher, and need to get their 3s to start falling.

The only consolation I can take now is that it should be obvious how much Kobe carried this team the past few years. Kobe made Gasol who he was by how awesome he (Kobe) was. I’m rambling. Sigh. Strange to feel this way. Keep hope alive, I guess.

Kobe doesn’t get that credit because he wasn’t able to do as much with Smush and Kwame and Radman and Cook before we got Pau. Pau is the one who got us to 3 straight Finals, not Kobe, and don’t you forget it.

Got so frustrated did numbers crunching. Check this out.
Average NBA team points per game this season is 94.55. Right now lakers are 93.3. During Kobe’s 40 point streak, Lakers averaged 95 points per game. So this tells me, Kobe needs to be dropping 40 a night so the Lakers can just be an average offensive team.
