The Credits: "Guess Who's [Not] Coming To Dinner"
After a much welcome and needed day-off, the Lakers are set to host the Dallas Mavericks in what will surely be the most awkward game of the young season. If you somehow failed to notice the lack of No. 7 in Purple & Gold, let me take you back to Dec. 8th, when it appeared the Lakers had pulled off the Blockbuster Trade this side of 2008, only to have it unravel right before their eyes. Feelings were hurt, things were said and Lamar Odom requested and was granted a one-way ticket out of LAX.
Fast forward to the present day, the Lakers stand at a respectable 9-5, having gone 7-3 in the last ten games. Kobe Bryant has led the way with four (!!!) 40+ games, in his 16th NBA Season. Can he maintain this long enough for the Lakers Offense to come around and balance things out, or will Kobe Bryant continue to remind us of his basketball prowess?
Tonight's game looks to be filled with emotion and intrigue, and hey, our favorite NBA Crew, TNT, will be handling the game! See y'all in the 2nd Q!

How old is Andre Miller?
Id only want him to do some hip-checking with blake griffin.
otherwise, no thank you. id rather play morris.

D-MO!
bout damn time mike brown heard our crys. ive been screaming bloddy murder for him to play D-MO, and only NOW brown realized what he had? i love this kid, and im praying, that if any trade talks bubble to the surface, that mike brown wont include D-MO in the talks. the kid is a rook? but he can play. i see a little of pjax in mike, as in, i wonder sometimes with his rotations. but thats another story.
I know it probably wont happen cuz of kobe's love for fish
but i would love for blake to be the starter when he comes back, and have morris play the backup pg. keep fish on the bench unless we need someone to take a shot with .4 seconds left.

3 game losing streak 6th in the east. hmmm sounds good to me :D

got to watch the nuggets beat the heat in person
sooo much fun. lebron gets as much boos in denver as kobe does. also, watching bandwagon heat fans leave early in the fourth quarter as they were getting blown out was sweet
Follow me: @theshmoes.
2 wade jumpers and one Bosh 3
and they’re 5 – 7. I really don’t think that 2 gunners plus a mid range shooting big is a good fit. But hey, they still have 2 of the best players in the league.

"I like jewelry. ... I like winning," - Kobe Bryant
im still pretty sure they'll win the east though.
too much talent and wade is a killer
Follow me: @theshmoes.
how bout the bulls
they’re winning but not as impressive as we thought they could be. Gut feel says the Bulls can really challenge the Heat for East supremacy; Rose just needs one more piece prolly a shot creator and they will be toe to toe with the heat.

at this point in the season they look better than the heat, but i dont think they could get past them in a 7 game series
Follow me: @theshmoes.
would be nice but not likely
"If you’re afraid to fail, then you’re probably going to fail. You know what I mean? Fuck it." -- Kobe "Black Mamba" Bryant
why not?
for me it’s a pretty good match up,
wade > rip
LBJ > deng
Boozer = Bosh
Rose > chalmers
Noah > Anthony
Bench: advantage bulls
Deng could make LBJ work for his points, he’s a pest we’ve seen him pestering kobe. Bulls platoon of bigs will be hard to overcome for the heat. But you’ll never know with these “superstars” they sometimes just go off.

When do they play?
I really want to see the Rip/Wade matchup, Rip was a really good defender with the Pistons…
by x Nightwing x on Jan 16, 2012 10:50 AM PST up reply actions
I think they could
But it would depend on whether Rose could get points against Lebron on D. That’s what did them in last year…
by x Nightwing x on Jan 16, 2012 10:48 AM PST up reply actions
that wasn't the main problem
like us, the bulls also have a penchant for standing around and watching their star do it by himself
"If you’re afraid to fail, then you’re probably going to fail. You know what I mean? Fuck it." -- Kobe "Black Mamba" Bryant
or at least against the heat they did
"If you’re afraid to fail, then you’re probably going to fail. You know what I mean? Fuck it." -- Kobe "Black Mamba" Bryant
The way I see it, it will be.
The defense of the Bulls will keep them close, but it’s up to Rose to make plays. They don’t have anyone else who is making their own shot (though Deng and Rip have the capacity to do so).
by x Nightwing x on Jan 16, 2012 10:52 AM PST up reply actions
well they basically brought in rip
to be that extra guy who can come flyin off screens and knock shots down and deng HAS to be aggressive on the offensive side of the ball but you can’t blame the guy; he’s too gassed out defending lebron and wade all night long
"If you’re afraid to fail, then you’re probably going to fail. You know what I mean? Fuck it." -- Kobe "Black Mamba" Bryant
Lebron was just too big and as fast for Rose in crunch time
but for this year’s Bulls, Rose will have plenty of options with time winding down. Basically he can run a P&R(pop) choose to shoot/drive the lane or kick it to Booze or pass it to Deng/Rip coming off a screen.

To be honest, I was shocked they lost last year to the Heat.
Bulls defense looked so much worse against the Heat than it had all season long. Bosh got free on so many pick and rolls that were just way too easy for Lebron to pick apart. To me, it was a defensive loss. If they could have kept Bosh in check, the series would have been a Bulls win, even with Rose struggling.
What's worse is the teams they've beaten...
Wizards (twice)
Nets
Pistons
Yeah…

The interview in the LA times on LO is really good. Has a ton of good quotes from him. Still miss that dude.
“For them just to [try to] trade me without communicating, it made me start to ask myself questions like ‘Why would they do something like that?’ " said Odom, who found out he was in the attempted Paul trade from a Times reporter. "It hurt my feelings. Why would they choose to go that route? My father lives in California and I take care of my dad. They know about my family situation, everything about me, everything about Lamar.
“It was impossible for me not to take it personally. When I spoke to one of the representatives for the Lakers, the first thing he said was ’Don’t take it personally.’ That means it’s personal if that’s the first thing someone says to you.”

boston milked that cow with there H.O.F.ers, in parish, bird, mchale, and johson, till about 93-94. that was the yr when robert parish was the only one left on that team. bird, mchale, were already gone. thats what danny ainge is doing now, milking that big 3 till the cow runs dry. i LOVE IT! that means we wont see the celtics any good for another 20 yrs! lol.
which is fine by me....

and if they don’t want Mo… they should give him to us.

schedule makes a lot of difference
a lot of road games but they’ve been playing mostly non playoff teams, last 10 only Indiana and NYK are bound for the playoffs.

schedule? we talkin bout schedule?!
lol…i understand the abbreviated season is a reason for some ugly basketball lately but this is the sixers we’re talkin bout. they dont really hav a star and it’s the fashion in which they been killing their opponents and they’re defense is pretty ridiculous right now
"If you’re afraid to fail, then you’re probably going to fail. You know what I mean? Fuck it." -- Kobe "Black Mamba" Bryant
better look at their schedule
they played the Wiz twice now, one each against NOH, Det, Raptors, Indy, Kings, Warriors, Utah, PHX and POR that’s a pretty soft schedule to start. Their defense has been stellar to say the least but it should, considering the teams they played against so far.

On the flip-side, this makes me want to get D12 even more
That way there’s no way he goes to Dallas or the Clips.

heres the deal...
ill bet whatever it takes that if the lakers swung a deal for Dwill? that it would sway D12 to want to play for the lakers. ill guarantee it. thats who the lakers really need to go for first.

Problem is, Nets won't trade him as long as they know they have a shot at D12
Going after Howard is the 1st option not because it’s the better move, it’s cause it’s the only one… But overall we do need DWill more than D12

theres have been reports that D12 has "soured" on the nets move and moved on.
