This is a Dwight trade scenario that works and could possibly be agreed on for both teams.
A lot of the trades I've seen on here make me think...ummm that doesn't work under the cap space rules...or...why the heck would so and so team do this?!
Lakers get Dwight and Arenas or Turk
Why? - Dwight Howard is a beast, a certified star (something everyone hopes Bynum could turn out to be, but not quite there yet). They will likely have to take on another contract that Orlando wants to dump...Arenas or Turkoglu. With Arenas, you get a starting caliber PG. With Turkoglu you sort of replace what Odom brought...sort of.
Why not? - Bynum is looking quite good. Although, not yet a star or even superstar, next year might be his breakout year. He's also young. Arenas and Turk are generally considered bad contracts. Actually Arenas at his current output is a HORRIBLE contract. Turk is more manageable.
Orlando gets Bynum, Odom, Artest
Why? - Dwight seems like he is going to leave, might as well solve the problem early and replace him with a similar center. They also get to dump Arenas or Turk and pick up a solid player in Odom. Artest is declining but still can add defense and toughness (his contract isn't too bad either).
Why not? - D12 is D12. He's also infinitely more charismatic than Bynum and probably helps sell tickets. Although, winning sells tickets as well.
You can also trade Pau if you'd like (instead of Bynum)...but I am not sure how Bynum and D12 would co-exist...unless you found a way to trade Bynum for CP3 (which works..but doubt NO would go for it)....hmmm lemme work on that.
I am a Clipper fan, a near expert in free agency, salary cap and especially in looking at draft picks...because that is all we do. These trades are structurally sound.
