I feel like trying something new. It could turn out to be an unmanageable disaster, but if so, whatever.
What I'm envisioning is a power ranking of the 16 NBA playoff teams, but not based solely on my own views or the views of the SS&R authors, but of everyone who wants to cast a vote. Each of you ranks the teams, I'll contribute my own ballot (which won't count more than any other), and right before the playoffs start I'll tabulate and publish the results. It'll be an exercise in the wisdom of the crowd, and if it works maybe we'll do it again before each subsequent round of the playoffs. Rules for participating are after the jump.
Rule 1: If you want to cast a ballot, post a comment in this thread in which you rank the following teams 1 to 16.
Don't rank them on what likelihood you think they have of winning the championship. Base your vote on simply how good you think they are right now.
Rule 2: Vote honestly and analytically. Think it through and get it right. Don't put the Lakers first just because they're the Lakers, and don't put the Celtics or Heat last just because you feel like mocking them. I'll toss out any ballot I suspect was spuriously cast.
Rule 3: To make it easy for me to tabulate, the first thing in your comment should be a straight ranking of the teams, 1 through 16. Feel free to editorialize as much as you like, but put your additional thoughts below your list.
Rule 4: Don't get cute by using ties, or throwing additional teams in there or whatever. Those ballots will get thrown out, too.
Rule 5: No jokes about hanging chads or recounts. You're better than that.
Now get to ranking!
