Derrick Rose will probably win the MVP this year. Kobe Bryant will probably lead his team to an NBA championship.
How many MVPs can you name where the league gets excited about a player, then with the benefit of hindsight, it becomes clear that Kobe deserved it?
Nash, Nowitski, James and now... Rose.
Same shit. Different year.
Writers and broadcasters (most of whom never PLAYED) choose an MVP because they become captivated by a story.
I wonder if it would the same if they went back to letting the players vote on who becomes the MVP as they did before 1980-81 season?
Consider that every team in the league fears the Lakers, every player fears Kobe, every single man in a jersey in the NBA knows that Kobe Bryants wants it more and will fight, hustle, goad, push, and will his team to victory. (Also, recent performances notwithstanding, he just happens to be having a very efficient year)...
So, I put it to you, oh ye faithful prognosticators, pugilists and poets of SSR:
Would the players choose Kobe for MVP?
