Around SBN: NFL Owners Vote to Change Trade Deadline

(Updated news) Okay, we'll get CP3 — but pair him with Bynum

Bynum may be a bit goofy, but he's the most powerful force in the West, and equal to Howard. Chris Paul will only make him better.

With Gasol gone, Bynum just might be the second option on most nights, because Paul ain't gonna be number one so long as Kobe is breathing. If Paul dishes like a maniac, Kobe and Bynum will see their numbers skyrocket.

Dwight Howard doesn't have the post moves to take advantage of a guy like Paul — Bynum does.

If you're giving away the single advantage that NO OTHER team could hope to match — length — then you had better have a post guy who can score in a lot of ways. That ain't Howard.

Either way, this is going to be a thin team and one or two injuries will doom them.

PG — Paul

SG — Bryant

SF — World Peace

PF — ???

C — Bynum or Howard

Second unit: Fisher and Blake, Kapono and Caracter, and ??? in the post?

Who's the "go-to" guy on that unit?

I wanted a PG in the worst way.

I fear that Kupchak and Jim Buss did just that.

Are you sure about this?

How do you know? This would be great if it wasn’t vetoed again.

You're crazy if you don't think Howard will be a very prolific scorere

I mean his best “parterns” have been Lewis, Nelson, and Turk. None of them are legitimate 1, 2 or even 3rd options. They make great 4th or 5th options on a team.

Put him with someone like Kobe and CP3 who both can be #1 options and you have 3 people who can be your score first option. In all honest our scoring will be Kobe #1, Dwight #2, and CP3 will be an assist machine that can bail us out anytime we need bailed out.

Little things used to mean so much to her- I used to think they were kind of trivial. Believe me, nothing is trivial.

I agree, Howard's offensive game can only grow in LA

We even got legends here that can train Dwight on new offensive moves (like with what happened with Bynum).

My guess would be...

PG — Paul, Fisher, Morris, Blake (Lakers shop Blake around for a serviceable bench PF)
SG — Bryant, Kapono, Goudelock (more of a PG but got a glut at that spot), + one possible other SG
SF — Turk, Barnes, Ebanks, World Peace (one (or two) of them traded for front court depth, and if that fails, then Metta is amnestied)
PF — Mini-mid level acquisition or trade exception (originally going to be the $9 mil trade exception), some old vet, Caracter
C — Howard, O’neil/Okafor, a walking corpse

I look forward to seeing this completely outdated by morning

Bynum != Howard

Power Forward Options

What about signing Kris Humphreys at Power Forward (assuming we trade Pau)? Or would he be too expensive? Otherwise it would seem like there would be a massive hole at power forward for the Lakers, don’t you think?

the rumor was that tha lakers had a deal in place for a pf

But the Paul deal got vetoed which put the brakes on it. You better believe they have a plan in place

Regarding Bynum or Howard

I personally like Andrew Bynum and think he has a big upside if he can stay healthy which has been his main problem so far. If Andrew can stay healthy, the only deficiency to Dwight Howard would be that Dwight is a better rebounder and also a more physical presence (at this point in their careers). However, I worry about Dwight’s free-throw shooting. That will be a factor in close games, the way it was with Shaq but I"m not as confident in Dwight’s ability to hit them (when they count—as Shaq put it).

you don't have to worry about dwight's FTs in LA

i’m sure kobe and CP3 will get their fair amount of fouls at the end of games

Foul Shooting

I meant the intentional foul where they foul him right away like they have done to Shaq in past playoff games which forces him to shoot free throws—assuming they are out of fouls. Or is that no longer allowed to happen?

Getting Howard would probably be the last straw

Literally the majority of the casual small market teams fans would tune out completely. It’d be bad for the NBA.

Leaving Jimmer Fredette open for 3 is like leaving Brad Pitt alone with your wife. You know he's gonna hit it.

we cares...

about the small markets? They have to do better with drafts and trades, i.e. OKC. Not the Lakers problem.
