This whole topic/post started because my friend wouldn’t come out of the closet. If you were to have a poll about the NBA and ask any question, as long as one of the options was Michael Jordan, he will always win. Even if the majority of the voters never seen him play first hand.
Anyway, here is the conversation that started this post……..
I accused my friend of being a closet Bulls fan and then converted to a Lakers fan after 1996 because of his reaction to my following comment. I told him that in my opinion, there are parts of Kobe’s game that are better than MJ’s game like his shooting range and post game. He almost had a heart attack. I also added that MJ’s amazing fade away was the best ever but, like Lebron’s blocks which give the illusion that he is a great defender, it gave the illusion that MJ was the best post player which he wasn’t.
Also, something that is very deceiving is “points in the paint.” Having a lot of points in the paint does not equate to being a great post player. That is like saying that since Stockon has more career assists than Magic that he was a better Point Guard. It takes more than that. For a player to be considered a great post player, he has to have an arsenal of moves. I’m not saying MJ didn’t have an arsenal, but there have been other players with even better ones.
But what really made him lose his lid was when I claimed that Olajuwon was the best post player of all time and that Kobe was second on that list.
So here is what I wanted to do. I made a list of, in my opinion, the best post players in the history of the NBA. I would like to know who you guys actually think is the best post player of all time and to avoid any bias, because we are on a Lakers site, I will exclude Kobe because he will obviously win. Also, feel free to disagree and add any players that I might have missed.
Keep in mind that this is only my point of view and opinion based on my personal experiences of watching basketball. I am just curious as to what the rest of you think.
