Don't see this happening on the Lakers' end

Rudy Gay does not equal Pau Gasol, especially when people are talking about possibly trading Gasol for Dwight (if Jim won’t let Bynum go and if Orlando won’t take Odom), so if trading Gasol is on the table, Gay definitely does not equal Howard

My long reply (which is currently awaiting moderator approval) took the writer to task for what seemed to me to be sloppy logic. I was thinking from a Grizzlies’ perspective, but the trade doesn’t make much sense for the Lakers either. It simply generates a lot of redundancy for both teams, and only good for New Orleans. All in all, this trade proposal demonstrates how irritating Trade Machine can be in the wrong hands.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m biased towards Rudy Gay and I really don’t want to see him traded. If the Grizzlies have to trade him, I at least want to get something really good back in return. I’d imagine many Lakers fans feel the same way towards Pau, which is why this trade scenario is so frustratng for both of us. Further, as you pointed out in your comments, the writer seems to ignore all (or be ignorant of) logic in regards to how trades work. What’s really irritating is that he stubbornly insists that our logic is faulty. Ughhh, I’ve already given this article and writer more time than they deserve.
