Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Will Never Top Michael Jordan

Why They Will Have A Deal By This Weekend and Why Kobe Will Make It Happen

According to SLAM this morning Report: NBA Labor Deal 95% Done. The BRI is the remaining point of contention. So what do we know about the status of the BRI negotiations.

Hunter at this point refuses to budge below 52% or 52.5% depending on the source. On the other hand we have this story from late Friday afternoon after the negotiations ended Kobe Bryant, Derek Fisher want 50/50 BRI split? The agents are pressuring Hunter to hold the line at 52% to 52.5%. On the other hand why would Kobe be willing to settle for 50%?

Kobe doesn't need the money.  However,  Kobe is still finalizing his NBA legacy. Right now I would rank him #3 all time behind Michael Jordan and Bill Russell. What does Kobe need to finalize his NBA legacy as the greatest NBA player of all time? Kobe needs to pass Michael in career scoring.  Kobe is 33 years old and 4,400 points behind Michael for career scoring points.  Kobe also is 700 points behind Michael in career playoff scoring.  At Kobe's age the risk of a serious career ending injury increases by the season.

Now Kobe may also need another "Ring" to help him become #1 all-time among NBA players.   However, that is not entirely under Kobe's control.   Passing Michael in career regular season and playoff total points is under Kobe's control and we all know how competitive Kobe is.

We also know that Kobe really wants to become recognized as the greatest NBA player ever.   To do that he needs points and get those points he needs games.

IMO there will be an agreed upon deal by next week at this time.

I agree that, legacy wise,

it is in Kobe’s best interests to have a season this year. However, I really don’t think a single player is going to sway the negotiations either way. If a deal is made soon, it will be because the owners finally get their heads out of their asses and make some real concessions and compromises of their own.

Well...

I hope they will have a deal with this weekend. But I’m not getting my hopes up at all until I see something at the top of NBA.com which reads: Owners, Players Have Reached New CBA or something of that sort. Then I’ll get happy.

Let us all congratulate the Boston Red Sox for becoming the first World Champions in the history of sports to NOT make the postseason! Thats not easy to do!

Hey I'm all for a deal

There are basic Fundamentals that are needed to move forward in this game. Always keep your guard up at all times to avoid being caught in a trap. Overcome the fouls that will be committed against you REBOUND AND PRESS ON. ADJUST to the Limelight: ALL-STAR PLAYERS ARE ALWAYS THE CENTER OF ATTENTION. Know what your role is and play your position. Find a game plan and execute it. REMEMBER YOU ONLY GET OUT OF THE GAME WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT.

I'm on it so let's tweet: @B_M_Bizness

If Kobe and Fish were okay with the 50/50 split

And Hunter and other members of the NBAPA still were able to end the discussions, then that shows the amount of influence Kobe has, or the lack thereof.

Meant "were" under the above hypothetical

In reaction to the above point. Have no idea what to make of Fish’s denial or whatnot since we have to see how it plays out in the next negotiations.
