State of the Lakers
Im sure everyone was concerned about our fellow Lakers with their lackluster performance during the dog days of December. We were all hyped to face LeBron and didnt show up (like last year-and look how that ended) and we really lost some miserable home games to Milwaukee and Memphis and rumors of our demise had begun..
But rumors of our demise are greatly exaggerated kind of like Kobe and PJ said last year quoting Mark Twain..
Now after beating up the Knicks tonight, we have won 4 straight and 6 out of 7 and coincidentally this was when Drew was reinserted into the starting lineup. LO continues to play at an extremely high level. I believe this team has gotten out of the funk they were in. I was definitely expecting one and likely 2 during this season, but a little later on. Im glad to have gotten this out of the way early so this team isnt lax going into the Spring.
Im not gonna lie. I wasnt happy with their play and nervous about their long term play, but they seem to be coming around. The Barnes injury comes at an inopportune time, but better now than during the playoffs. Hopefully he's back in 8 weeks and ready to go.
Before this run, many people were freaking out and writing us off that we were almost 7 games behind the Spurs for home court and now we blink 10 days later and we've got it down to 4. This game is a marathon, not a sprint, and I think as Lakers fan, we must follow the course of our Zen Master and not get to high or too low during the regular season.
I say this and remember thinking back to the '98 Bulls when I said, "This is it!" This is the year they lose. They dont look great during the regular season and they are gonna get knocked off by Indiana and Utah for sure. Lo and behold, experience and the champion emerges. So fellow Laker fans, I just want to remind you, dont get too upset with what happens in January and February, its June that matters and as long as this team plays to potential, WE WILL BE THERE!!
