I understand he is Mr. Clutch and when the game is on the line I want the ball in his hands....but what about the 1st 3 quarters of the game?
The seasoned started off great with Kobe Bryant feeding everyone the ball, mainly Pau Gasol. Pau was actually leading the Lakers in scoring, not Kobe Bryant. It's no secret that Kobe Bryant is slowing down but he is not ready to pass the torch just yet....especially to a teammate! Right now Kobe is playing for himself, not the team.
Someone please tell Kobe he is shooting 31% from 3s...and Pau is shooting 51% from 2. You do the math. Its ok if Pau ends up with more points as long as we win.....right? Pau also opens the game up for Andrew Bynum because as they adjust to double team Pau, the paint is wide open for Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom to clean up the boards in case of a miss, plus Kobe wouldn't have to take so many 1 on 1 contested jump shot. Kobe will have his games where he goes off and scores 40+, but for the Lakers to consistently win, the Laker bigs have to be the immediate method of attack offensively.
Basketball is played inside out for a reason. Pau Gasol is only one of the best bigs in the game...only if you consistently give him the ball down low where he can score. He's not a great offensive rebounder so if you're just jacking up shots at 44% then you're killing us Kobe! Give Pau the D@MN ball!
P.S.
Play Shannon Brown and Steve Blake more minutes. Derek Fisher isn't giving us anything basketball worthy to warrant him playing almost 30 minutes a game. I understand his leadership. I love his competitiveness, but these kids are better than him at this point. Let them play.
