USA-Iran Open Thread
That's Hamed Haddadi up there, blocking Andrew Bynum's shot. H2 plays for the Iranian national team, which is scheduled to get crushed by Team USA this morning. The game's on ESPN at 9:00 California time.
No one's too jazzed about how the Americans looked against Brazil the other day, but whatevs. Team USA is 3-0 in round play so far and need only take care of Iran and Tunisia to get to the knockout round undefeated. Those two are a combined 1-5, so I'm liking the odds of that happening.
In slightly more exciting news, only 33 days until the Lakers' first preseason game!

I don't do it for your thanks, I do it because I had a calling, but I do love the support you give me and my Soldiers.
A lot of overseas players have that belief. I remember Pau Gasol shooting threes regularly
during FIBA play before coming to the NBA.
they all wanna be Dirk (big FIBA dudes)

Durant is playing well. Shooting great from three and playing good defense.
LO is rebounding as usual and setting up Durant and other perimeter players for open looks.
ahhhhh
sounds great!

Arsalan Kazemi is an interesting player that people should watch.
He is playing for the Iranian national team right now, but he is attending Rice University. Very much a high energy player, but a pretty good rebounder. Kazemi has other parts of his game ot develop but looks like an intriguing NBA prospect.
Turnover frenzy to start the half for Iran

seems like iran seriously lacks awareness on both ends

Iran has had like two possessions that haven't ended in a turnover in this quarter

End of the third

Our halfcourt offense is still really bad
It’s okay to have this iso-heavy offense when Kobe, LeBron, and Wade are the people creating their shot, but not with this group, in which the only elite shot creator is Durant. There literally needs to be a pick-and-roll run nearly every play and Coach K has zero idea what to do here.

Yeah, Splitter is a fantastic roll man

I dont feel safe with this lead
especially with the dangerous Hammad Haddadi on the floor.
Adam Morrison has more rings than Lebron, Bosh, and Wade combined?
haha Dont sweat dude, this one is done

They really should start Love at the five
Move Odom to the four, Durant to the three, and have Billups/Rose and Gordon/Curry in the backcourt.

Part of it is the offense completely ignoring him
But yeah, he’s nearly useless on offense when he can’t break down bigs from the perimeter.

Heh, Gordon

"That means no more coming into camp fat and out of shape, when your team is relying on your leadership on and off the court. It also means no more blaming others for our team's failure, or blaming staff members for not overdramatizing your injuries so that you avoid blame for your lack of conditioning.
