Just because you throw someone a pass, and they score, it doesn't mean you made them a better player.

Kobe was in the studio and supposedly gave Kanye inspiration for “Power” remix. Plus, Kobe is perhaps the most powerful player in the NBA. Screw the “decision.” What other players besides Magic maybe played “poker” with Jerry Buss, and won? 10 Rings between them too!

Plus, Magic is looking to be a a majority owner. Buss? ’Nuff said

Your first comments are always cynical or negative.

Every time I noticed. No matter the subject.

What you need to realize is their “slurping” keeps us doing the titles. Readers like it, and the fact they appreciate them keeps us doing the good work, because there have been plenty of times I don’t want to look for an appropriate movie title and just want to put “Variety” (as in the movie industry trade paper). The praise keeps us doing work. People look forward to it.

Maybe people

just feel that its an appropriate title to the credits and therefore congratulate the person for finding the relative them of all the articles. I mean its the gimmick of the credits. Why shouldn’t we acknowledge when people go out of their way to add a little something extra? It only makes them work harder while coming over and being an ass only makes people bitter and resentful and the same quality isn’t put into what they do. Stop acting like your 17 and get over it.

It gets better
He can imagine, he says, playing for Cleveland again one day.

Did I hear him right? Cleveland?

“If there was an opportunity for me to return,” he says, “and those fans welcome me back, that’d be a great story.”

Cleveland…Ohio? Where fans at this very moment are burning his jerseys? Where fans are selling toilet paper made from his jerseys?

“Maybe the ones burning my jersey,” he says, “were never LeBron fans anyway.”

lebron should just lock himself away and not talk for the rest of forever
LeBron James won’t rule out returning to play for Cleveland some day, but admitted in an interview with GQ Magazine that owner Dan Gilbert’s letter to fans on the night James left the Cavaliers gives him “a lot of motivation” for when he and his new Miami Heat teammates play his former club.

In an interview to be published in the September issue of GQ, James told writer J.R. Moehringer that “if there was an opportunity for me to return [to Cleveland] … and those fans welcome me back, that’d be a great story.”

But James, who announced on July 8 that he would leave the Cavaliers as a free agent to sign with the Heat, said of Gilbert’s late-night letter: “I don’t think he ever cared about LeBron. My mother always told me: ‘You will see the light of people when they hit adversity. You’ll get a good sense of their character.’ Me and my family have seen the character of that man.”

James added: “It made me feel more comfortable that I made the right decision.”

Moehringer interviewed James three times in a 19-day span — twice before and once after his announcement.

The story looks at the weeks leading up to and just after his July 8 announcement on ESPN — on a show titled “The Decision,” which was widely panned. James said he wouldn’t change anything about how he made his decision, or how he told the world about it.

James told GQ: “I understand that a lot of people would be hurt” in Cleveland by his decision, but also said that growing up, he and his friends from Akron didn’t always like Cleveland. Akron is about 40 miles south of Cleveland.

“It’s not far, but it is far,” James told GQ. “And Clevelanders, because they were the bigger-city kids when we were growing up, looked down on us. … So we didn’t actually like Cleveland. We hated Cleveland growing up. There’s a lot of people in Cleveland we still hate to this day.”

James said he’ll remain anchored in Akron. “I’m going to spend a lot of the summer here,” he said. “This is my home. Akron, Ohio, is my home. I will always be here. I’m still working out at my old high school.”

And he said Cleveland fans were “awesome,” but didn’t take back his comment late last season that those around him were “spoiled” by his play.

“I love our fans. Cleveland fans are awesome,” he told GQ. “But I mean, even my family gets spoiled at times watching me doing things that I do, on and off the court.”

"It’s not far, but it is far," James told GQ. "And Clevelanders, because they were the bigger-city kids when we were growing up, looked down on us. … So we didn’t actually like Cleveland. We hated Cleveland growing up. There’s a lot of people in Cleveland we still hate to this day."

He stays shitting on them. All they did was love him. He needs to take out his anger on Dan Gilbert, not the fans. He has contempt for the fans because they expected him to stay? Makes no sense.

I think he was sayin

and I’ve actually heard this from other Cleveland people is that he had no real connection to Cleveland when he went there. It was more about being near Akron, which is why Akron folks still like him and Cleveland folks don’t. I mean most of his special events were actually in Akron and only his business offices were in Cleveland as far as I remember. So its not like he’s making it up. I get that he might not have had a connection with the city as much as people may think, but I don’t think he should’ve used that as a reason to justify going about business the wrong way.

Then he should also have kept his business offices in Akron.

And after everything good that has happened in his life, he’s still hating on some people in Cleveland? That’s like Bill Gates still hating the bullies from middle school. I’m sure he doesn’t give a shit about them any more.

Move on, LeBron.

Well

For him it makes business sense to be in Cleveland since that is where more industry is located and he needs to establish himself as opposed to others who need to be established or at least at first he needed to.

I’m definitely not justifying his statements towards the entire city, just saying I could understand why he feels there was a misconception about his devotion to Cleveland when his devotion really lay closer to Akron than anywhere else. Obviously, he still has some growing up to do if he can’t get past childish things such as that.

I'm not sure if opening this can of worms is a good idea

But I’m doing it anyways. LeBron’s an ass now, yes. His ‘decision’ was ass. His ass ego has it’s own twitter. He was an ass in not shaking hands after losing. He looked like an ass backing out of the dunk contest. He said he’d dunk! He calls himself ‘chosen 1’ when he isn’t even gonna work to be GOAT! Only an ass! Generally he’s been an ass all around.

But he’s young. He’s had his mind corrupted by Nike and Slam and every other body since high school. The Cavs ruined him, bending over to his every whim. He lives in a bubble, out of touch with reality. People around exploit him for their own 5 minutes of fame, ever since high school. He hears what he wants to hear, his ego unharmed. The lines between reality and fantasy become blurred. “Who likes LeBron for who LeBron is? Who’s just using me? Who’s criticism is constructive? Why. Is everybody. HATING ON ME!”

Kobe was termed an ‘ass’ too. He looked like an ass for ‘getting Shaq kicked off the team’. Phil Jackson all but got up on a mic and dropped a rap about how big of an ass he was. He looked pretty assy when he made everyone believe he might go to the Clippers. Dissing Bynum on camera was a pretty ass move. Only an ass would refuse to score against Phoenix! But with hindsight, we see what really happened behind the scenes. We see he was given excessive blame at times, undeservedly. We found out that his actions were justified, we just weren’t aware of all the justifications. As things unfolded, we discovered Kobe wasn’t being an ass, he was consumed by his competitive spirit. All he knew was to try to be the best, and he didn’t understand, couldn’t relate to others who didn’t do their best to be the best, who got in his way on his holy mission. We learned that Kobe wasn’t an ass, but in his youth he was unable to express himself to the masses, didn’t know how to convey what was going on in his mind. Kobe was simply trying to be great.

Yet as Laker fans, we are quick to pull the trigger on LeBron. We call him an ass for the things he’s done. We laugh as he’s punked my former NBA greats, people he grew up idolizing. We have no sympathy for LeBron. He thinks he’s better than KOBE FRICKING BRYANT. He took two of Kobe’s MVPs! Look at him, trying to the GOAT when we has half the game and none of the desire of our very own. We want no piece of it.

The question that comes to my mind, however, is this: Should we be reserving final judgment on LeBron? In effect, should we give him a little more time, until he’s older and more mature? Do we allow him to try to learn from the mistakes he keeps on making and to try to turn it around? Do we allow events to unfold and maybe reveal the true nature of this kid, as we did for out own? Maybe we learn that he really is a player who was used too much when he was still too young. Maybe, he’s exactly like Kobe but yet, exactly the opposite, trying not to be remembered as someone who worked their ass off to be the best, but as someone who was chill, had a good time, and was still great at basketball.

Instead of thinking of him as an ‘ass’, should we be thinking of him as a young player who came up too fast and made bad decisions growing up? Or do we really think he is an ass forever now, beyond redemption, cursed into history forever more with the likes of Russia’s 72 Olympic performance and Jordan’s HOF speech?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. LeBron James if 26 years old and has been in the league 7 years; this is his 8th season.

This isn’t about Kobe or what Phil said about Kobe or what’s been proven about what happened with Shaq or the game in Phoenix.

This is about LeBron, a grown-ass man with a family. The age excuse has been used to give him a pass for everything he’s done in the last two years, from the unsportsmanlike behavior after the 2009 ECF to his dancing on the sidelines and pre-game antics. At some point he stops getting a pass because of his age. That time is now.

He lives in a bubble, out of touch with reality.

This has been his problem for a long time and now reality is poking a hole in that bubble. The truth hurts and he’s hearing it for the first time. It’s about time.

I'm thinking

ass until forever more. Kobe’s stuff was mostly misconceptions about things he was saying. Drawing out with the Clippers is not comparable to The Decision. Calling out Bynum when in effect he was actually pissed about not trading Bynum for Jason Kidd is not the same as calling and referring to your teammates as a supporting cast and that you’d be better off with clones of yourself. Kobe was tortured upon entering the NBA. Couldn’t be flashy, couldn’t get minutes, and couldn’t get respect just because he was flashy with a coach who wouldn’t play him for the same reason. He was perceived as an ass more out of pure jealousy than Kobe was actually an ass in person during his interviews. Criticizing the “leader” of a team isn’t an ass move, its a grown-up move because when grown-ups are upset with each other they can air their differences, unfortunately the other person in the equation wasn’t quite there yet. At 26, Kobe was making trade demands, no more an ass move than anyone else whose made them. Basically, give me someone or give me away. Not oh well, i don’t know, I’m thinking of a letter A-Z, lets go with New york today. Statisticians hated him because people like him more than McGrady and then Lebron, other hated him because he wasn’t “hood,” many hated him because he won titles and therefore anytime he smiled he was cocky. But he was winning and people hate winners, when they’re not on their team. I mean you see it to this day, people bring up a settles rape case and various on-court celebrations just to tear down the image of Kobe. And we’re not even going to talk about Phx game 7.

Lebron is now a grown ass man whose had everything handed to him except a reality check. He came in with free reign on an offense, he got respect, he got the accolades, and he got hot-headed. He has been being criticized for his remarks for like 3 years now and he still speaks third person, douchebag language. He still speaks ill of his teammates in Cleveland, should he not win 66 games this year I want to hear nothing. He still takes massives strokes of his own ego. He’s an ass, and I don’t think thats going to change. If you read the interview on TrueHoop by the guy who wrote the GQ article, then you can see why I don’t think it is. He’s been doing this too long and been too uninhibited by his people. Its not going to change, He’s shown his stripes and they surely aren’t changing anytime soon.

Yes.

The difference between Kobe’s being an “ass” and LeBron’s is that Kobe was pitted against Shaq, whom was very good with media and had them on his side. Shaq was able to manipulate media force misconceptions because as the NBA’s #1 guy at the time, it makes sense for writers to follow the lead dog. LeBron? There are no misconceptions and no one filling the media with their slant. It;s all on LeBron

Melo news:
Anthony is weighing whether to sign a three-year, $65 million extension offered by the Nuggets. His dilemma, league sources say, is what affords him the best chance of continuing his career elsewhere. Anthony could sign with Denver and convince the team to then trade him. His other option would be to not sign the extension, thereby forcing the team to move him rather than risk losing him next summer as a free agent.

During his annual basketball camp in Colorado on Saturday, Anthony said he had no timetable on when he’ll decide whether to sign the extension.

In either case, “he’s going to make it real clear that he’s not coming back,” said one league source.

But both Nuggets owner Stan Kroenke and Anthony already are well aware that they don’t have a future together, sources say. That became clear to Kroenke at a reception after Anthony’s July 11 nuptials to La La Vasquez in Manhattan.

A series of toasts at the wedding reception, initiated by New Orleans Hornets guard Chris Paul, suggested Anthony leave Denver for the New York Knicks. Paul suggested it playfully, one source said, but subsequent guests — including Knicks power forward Amare Stoudemire and Anthony’s brother, Robert — made the point more forcefully.

everyone must be getting tired of these "new jerseys!" posts...

but regardless, here are dallas’ new ones:

i don’t understand why dallas has the small, off-center number on the front of the road jersey and the giant, centered number on the front of the home. bizzare. these seem like a downgrade to me.

Its nice that the NBA is trying to rekindle some of the older designs (ex. Sixers/ Jazz) but some of these newer ones arent that great.

That said, I’m just waiting for the Lakers to crank out a black alternate jersey. That would be epic.

There would be a lot of cool color schemes the Lakers could use for another alternate jersey

black ones, royal blue-baby blue, baby blue-yellow. I know the white one is a tribute to Chick Hearn but they seem a bit redundant

Kobe Bryant is a shoo-in, who probably will be inducted as soon as the five-year wait is up. Players must be fully retired for five years before being eligible for enshrinement and Hall officials probably already have his name on a plaque somewhere.
