Hey everyone, it was getting pretty boring around these parts so I decided to do a Rough Cut that I had been thinking about doing for a while! First off, I just want to say that I know there was already a Rough Cut about TV shows, but I just wanted to have some fun and see what shows the fellow SS&R's used to watch growing up. I was recently watching Rocko's Modern Life (which, I hadn't seen in years) on Nick Toons and I realized that today's shows and cartoons just don't seem to be as good as the ones I watched growing up. (I didn't even realize that Nick Toons even had re-runs of that show.)
It made me reminisce and think about the good old days of quality TV shows and cartoons. I may be just a little bit biased, but I think being born in the 80s and growing up in the 90s was the shit!!! But anyway.....
I always wondered why the networks thought it was a good idea to cancel the good, old shows and replace them with crap. ( Remember when MTV used to actually play videos and had only a few non music themed shows?) I want some of what they were smoking! And, was it just me, or did it seem like Nick and Disney have some of the best shows?
Here are some of the shows I used to watch: Sesame Street (always was and always will be the shiznit), Captain Planet, Duck Tales, The Smurfs, Pinky & The Brain, The Animaniacs, Inspector Gadget (I used to think Penny and her computerized book or whatever the hell it was were so cool), The Pound Puppies, The Care Bears, Tail Spin, All That, Salute Your Shorts, Hey Dude (the guys were so hot!), Count Duckula, Ren & Stimpy (probably shouldn't have been watching that when I was 6 and 7), Kenan & Kel, Clarissa Explains It All, Double Dare, Doug, Rugrats, the Gummi Bears show, Darkwing Duck, any show that was on Snick at night, Maya the Bee, Nozzles,Wild & Crazy Kids, Daria, Kablam!, David the Gnome, Angry Beavers, Hey Arnold!, Beavis & Butthead, Liquid Television, The Mickey Mouse Club (the new one), etc, etc.... I'm pretty sure there's some I forgot so feel free to add to the list!
So what show's did you guys watch growing up?
(Oh, ps, no offense to anybody that not an 80s baby. Everyone here is cool to me regardless of their age!)
