The Silver Lining Of Lebrocalypse

Woke up this morning to find that Lebron had gone on to do what many sources were suggesting and join the Heat and form what now is probably the greatest Big Three the league has ever seen. And as much as it pains me to say it all roads to the Larry O'Brien trophy seem to have to go through Miami provided they get at least 2 solid players (one of which must be a solid defensive center) to add to their rotation of rookies, and summer league scrubs.

However, (here comes the silver lining) lets say the Lakers take that road to Biscayne Boulevard, Miami and come back to L.A the 2011 three-peat champions. Two things regarding Kobe that come to mind with this outcome....firstly, the who's better Kobe or Lebron or Wade conversations I can safely assume will be attached a 10 tonne rock and thrown at the bottom the Atlantic Ocean just off the shore of Miami Beach.

Secondly, his legacy amongst the all time greats will undoubtedly be cemented their forever if it isn't there already, because whether it be M.Jordan, M.Johnson or Bird, none of them overcame a core this strong maybe better teams because its yet to be proven just how good a team the Heat will be, but core players? Stockton/Malone, Bird/McHale/Parish, Johnson/Kareem/Worthy all awesome cores but in my opinion the talent level of Lebron/Wade/Bosh and the fact their in their primes trumps the rest.

With the Lakers only one question comes to mind? Greatest team ever? Time will tell but rather than dwelling on whether or not the next 5 years of the NBA is simply a procession as the Heat winning it all becomes a formality, I'm thinking just how great would it be for Lakerdom if we stop that from happening?
