I would like to take some time to rant about a bracelet that I have been seeing more and more NBA players wear.
It's name rhymes with Mauer Palance, and it's a bracelet that's supposed to help your balance through use of a hologram that's on the bracelet.
Testimonials on the company site range from "it gives me an edge physically" to "I kept feeling something when I wore the bracelet".
How does it work? Well, the hologram resonates and responds to your natural energy field. Say what? Has it been scientifically tested? No. Does it have some chemical reaction? No. Is there anything besides this hologram? No.
Look, I'm not saying it's doesn't work. But if it does work, here's how it works, and it has nothing to do with your "natural energy field": Someone tells you he can sell you a bracelet that has special powers. This is the key part: You believe that person. You buy the bracelet. Then you put it on, and you can "feel" the difference because you know it's better. After that, you feel more confident about your abilities, so you perform better than before, when you didn't have that confidence. It's the placebo effect at its best.
If you want to save yourself some money, I can tell you that you have some special rubber bands in your house that can also respond to your natural energy field. If you can find one that is beige colored, those are the ones with the most powers. Put it on the next time you play, you will see, it makes you more balanced.
