Getting ready for training camp
Although the lakers aqquired 3 free agents this season which is very exciting, we need to also focus on our main players that need surgery. The main 3 players are Kobe Bryant, Luke Walton and Andrew Bynum. Kobe Bryant had succesful knee surgery, which will allow him to be fully prepared in training camp. Andrew Bynum had succesful knee injury but he will still only play limited time in training camp, and maybe in the season, now that the lakers signed theo ratliff. And apparently Luke Walton May Miss the entire next season due to his pinched nerve injury. Hopefully we will fix all our main guys up, because although the free agents are exciting, these guys are the most important.

Well, two of them are.

Bynum and Walton?
… or did you mean that Kobe fellow?

I think he was talking aboutShannon and LO.

Well if that's the case, then we're screwed because the two most important are already done for
Congo Ca$h and AMMO are taking their talents elsewhere it seems.

Yeah, that's the sad thing. I was gonna put them but remembered they were gone. So I picked the next two most important.

It must be pretty dead because we're having a nice back-and-forth thing going with the replies.

Yeah Friday night, no basketball.

Next up ...
Kobe’s fingers
You see? You see? Your stupid minds! Stupid! Stupid!
Hopefully
All goes well for our players, especially Kobe who needs to be at full strength in order to beat both Wade and LeJames. And hopefully they stay healthy throughout the season especially Bynum.
we wont need to beat the heat,
the magic, celtics or bulls will do that for us. the new heat = the old cavs (awesome regular season, post season chokers)

Left-handed Jump-shooting
I bet it is what Kobe would show up in the training camp. Probably he realized that his right hand index finger is too numb, he practiced and made himself ambidextrous with his jump shot.
I know it is hard, but I think it is the only logical thing given Kobe’s competitive drive. His left arm/ hand is relatively fresh
LOL.
The crazy thing is, with Kobe, it’s plausible.
Kobe Bryant's no Michael Jordan. Kobe Bryant is Kobe Bryant.

Greg Oden did that when he played at OSU, at least with free throws.
If Greg Oden can do it, Kobe definitely can.
Oden shot something like 65% from the line left handed because his right hand was hurt.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised.

Sad to say, but Luke Walton can't be fixed.
Looks like his back problem is hereditary and he’s already had surgery, so it doesn’t look like there’s anything else they can do.

well, we can hoard him in the ranks of the assistant coaches
or have him do color commentary with Stu. LOL
Today's sports media excels at over-reaction to a single event and specializes in hyperboles. But hey, it's that or my biochem textbook...
But will he retire?
Seems like he should really, but will he sit out and collect his millions (all counting against the cap and into tax)??
If he is unable to perform due to injury,
I believe insurance would kick in and the organization would not be on the hook for his salary counting against the cap.
This is correct
Which also makes him a very attractive trade piece.
To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.
I think his salary still counts against the Cap.
But the Lakers are so over the Cap that is irrelevant, and the Tax on his contract will likely be covered by insurance. The Lakers would, however, receive an injured player exception of 50% of his salary to sign whomever they wish within that $3 million.
Kobe Bryant's no Michael Jordan. Kobe Bryant is Kobe Bryant.

If he retires though, especially due to injury, the cap hold gets wiped out
Which is why I’d hope he’d delay filing papers for a while until we trade him for someone decent before the end of the summer.
To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.
mmm;;;
There are weird GMs who sign people like AMMO for huge contracts around the league (remember Travis Knight, what a good present to the Celtics! hehe), but really who would want him.
We’re stuck with him and we have to look at the best solution for all parties.
If he’s out one year, next year Barnes and Ebanks may have expiring contracts and who knows whether we can pull another great Free Agency run like this one… (imagine Phil retires)… So he still has a chance with the remaining two years.
I believe that with Barnes and Ebanks, LA wants him to take the year out, but we’ll see.
He’s probably a Laker for life. Not the most remembered, but he’s heading that way. He’s 30 already if I’m not wrong…

kobe said he'd be ready by camp
but he shouldn’t rush it. guy doesn’t have anything left to prove. he’s the man in the nba.
Kobe will want to be there but shouldn't rush it.
It’s better to not have him at training camp than risk him missing time when it counts.

You guys give the man too little credit. He’s not an idiot. He knows he won’t prove anything by ‘rushing’ into training camp rofl. If he says he’ll be ready by then, then he’ll be ready by then.
It's not being dumb that would make him force himself to training camp, it's the love of the game.
Combined with the fact that he will feel it’s his duty to report to camp. That’s not idiocy; it’s just the competitor that Kobe is.

I don’t doubt that. But rushing into training camp for the love of the game is in my opinion being dumb. And Kobe isn’t dumb. My point is, if the guy says he’s ready then he’s ready.
Well somewhere along that path of reasoning your logic is flawed
because this is exactly the kind of the thing Kobe would do.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.
players always come back early
no matter who they are. i’m sure kobe will make the right decision.

Kobe's not trying to prove anything by rushing back from surgery.
He knows his body and what it can handle better than any other player in the NBA. I trust Kobe, just like the Lakers organization does. No worries here.

Sorry, off-topic question for fellow Laker fans
Does anyone know who this is sitting behind our bench last season? He looks familiar. I want to say he used to play under Phil back in Chicago but I am not sure. Who is he? Please check the link below. Thanks.
Off the top of my head
I’d say that was Craig Hodges.

Dude, Craig Hodges is at least three times darker than that.
