If Luke's out for the season....

Can the Lakers somehow get his salary of the cap and/or parlay it into something useful? Another big would be nice.

So now do we pray for Luke to get healthy or for him to retire?

I pray Luke seriously considers retiring...

He’s been to 3 NBA Finals and has two rings, that’s pretty successful already. He shouldn’t force himself to play if his body really can’t. He should retire now and start as a scout or analyst.

Eh, I'd much rather he decide to retire

And let the Lakers use his effectively expiring contract as trade bait. Then he’s free to join the coaching or scouting staff.

To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.

by Ben R on Jul 26, 2010 3:32 AM PDT up reply actions

Yes.

Larry Coon said that the Lakers would be able to apply for an exemption on Luke’s salary if he is out for the season. I’m also assuming that insurance would pick up most of the tab on his salary as well. So, if Luke’s back is that bad. This might save the Lakers upwards of $10-12 million. I’m guessing. I’m sure ownership wouldn’t mind if Luke is out.

http://twitter.com/wondahbap

by wondahbap on Jul 24, 2010 10:37 AM PDT up reply actions

I sure wouldn't either

I kinda like Luke , but I don’t think he’s worth that much. We can really do something with $10M. I sure wish him the best of health though

by ajfarsi on Jul 24, 2010 12:46 PM PDT up reply actions

The Celtics tried or are trying to do the same with Sheeds contract

so I think that is a possibility.

I don’t even like driving in the city of Boston. It’s a rat’s nest of winding one-way streets. I half expect to come to a 3-way intersection and have the one way signs all point to the intersection! THAT’S how messed up Boston is.

Haha. I’m from Providence, and I HATE driving in Boston for that very reason. I always end up on Commonwealth Ave fro some reason. When they had the Big Dig going on? Forget it. Now, I take the train out there. Saves the hassle, parking money, gas, and I don;t have to worry about drinking and driving.

ya'll could of gotten a better Barnes pictures for this link

to cover up those tats and how skinny he is.

There are basic Fundamentals that are needed to move forward in this game. Always keep your guard up at all times to avoid being caught in a trap. Overcome the fouls that will be committed against you REBOUND AND PRESS ON. ADJUST to the Limelight: ALL-STAR PLAYERS ARE ALWAYS THE CENTER OF ATTENTION. Know what your role is and play your position. Find a game plan and execute it. REMEMBER YOU ONLY GET OUT OF THE GAME WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT.

the picture has built in symbolism in relation to the credits

that’s him, in the locker room, after being ejected from the game against the grizzlies for going toe to toe with thabeet. this guy isn’t scared of anybody

in relation to the credits, there’s an excellent post from the Orlando Sentinel Basket Blog about his “greatest hits”, naming his top 5 altercations. In the comments sections, you could see the Magic fans appreciating the role he played on the team as enforcer, and wishing him well.

He belongs to us now!

I always try to look for the “appropriate” pic too.
