Let us welcome our two new players..

Theo Ratliff, 37, agreed to a one-year deal for the veterans' minimum of $1.35 million, according to a league source. He will replace Josh Powell who is said to be signing with the Atlanta Hawks and DJ Mbenga will surely be left unsigned perhaps his spot will be taken by Derrick Caracter. He will bolster our frontline with Bynum, Pau, LO and Ron.

Matt Barnes, 30, agreed to a two-year deal worth $3.6M. The deal will pay him $1.7 million next season and give him a player option for $1.9 million in 2011-12. A very good perimeter defender, Barnes can play both 2 and 3 positions which is very helpful because Kobe and Ron can have a good rest. He can play 20-25 minutes per game.

The Lakers now have 11 players under contract and we are still waiting if Shannon Brown will be re-signing.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.

talents would have been hugely wasted in the triangle anyways

Bynum to the Lakers > CP3 to the Lakers.

Nice. Now Kobe can get some rest.

I wonder who gets more minutes if Brown signs. Brown, or Barnes.

hmmm..

maybe brown on the 2 and barnes on the 3 giving kobe and ron a rest with blake LO and ratliff. its a starting five in other team LOL

Brown plays SG and Barnes plays SF

It’s more like Sasha vs Shannon for minutes.

by EhondA on Jul 22, 2010 7:14 PM PDT up reply actions

Forgot he was a SF. >.<

Probably because of his matchup with Kobe when the Lakers played the Magic.

Barnes can defend both SG and SF so it's really nice to have him.

Considering you can put him with Kobe or Artest and it won’t really matter.

wtf?

It was just a rumor a whilez ago! That fast, huh?

All of a sudden, the Lakers bench seems incredibly strong

PG: Steve Blake
SG: Sasha Vujacic/Matt Barnes
SF: Matt Barnes, Devin Ebanks, Luke Walton
PF: Lamar Odom, Derrick Caracter
C: Theo Ratliff

Pau Gasol will still be seeing a formidable amount of time at Center so just having Ratliff is fine. I still want someone better than Sasha though BUT if he can return to his 08 form then DAMN!

Does point guard defense even matter anymore?

by EhondA on Jul 22, 2010 7:15 PM PDT reply actions

And all of the sudden we have filled the Requirement of Bench being able to start for another lesser team

Think of it.
1.Blake- He’s a smart guy, with an aptitude for learning.
2.Sasha- IF the return of the 2008 sasha occurs, he could be a starting SG at a team like Milwaukee
3. Matt Barnes- Well, he started for ORL last year.
4. LO- Given, top 20 in this league, ready to dipose for us on the bench.
5. Theo. Was a starter for some team years ago.

Well, for Theo,

starting on a team 37 years ago doesn’t really matter now _. But I agree otherwise.

by EhondA on Jul 22, 2010 7:29 PM PDT up reply actions

Uh, I don't think Sasha would star over

Michael Redd.

Yeah,

Michael Redd is so good that even Michael Redd couldn’t start on that team last year.

Well, he didn't mention that lol.

It’s like saying, Ratliff- He could be a starting center for a team like Los Angeles.

Milwaukee is really underrated now, talent-wise.

They’re fucking loaded. The only problem is that it might not all come together on the court.

That actually looks like a starting lineup.

Imagine if they keep Brown, too…
