Appreciate The Credits

As blog manager, I like to think that we do a lot of things right here on Silver Screen and Roll.  I've been told by many sources (you fine people included) that we have some of, if not THE, best Lakers analysis on the web.  We've got a talented array of authors who are capable of looking at things from a myriad of perspectives.  And we've got a great community of members, people who create relationships, awesome inside jokes, and take steps to make the community awesome instead of waiting for the staff to make it happen.

And then there's the link dump.  That's what it's normally called.  For most blogs, the link dump is the most basic and boring post imaginable.  Here are a few stories related to the blog's subject matter.  Enjoy them with your morning coffee.  As someone who's had to create the post every now and then, I can honestly say it's normally one of the most boring, utilitarian, posts to create.  I'm not bagging on the link dump here, it serves a vital role in any blog.  We need to have an informed opinion on our subject, and it helps if you members are informed as well, and a link dump is the best way to ensure that both are happening.  None of it prevents creating a list of links from being the blog equivalent of data entry.

Or, at least, that's what its like everywhere else.

I can honestly say, of all the things that SSR gets right (or tries to), The Credits may be the most distinct.  Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, has anything closely resembling what we get every day.  The number of relevant links, the organization, the formatting, even the little touches that make all the difference, like a movie title and starring roles, it all adds up to the same thing.  We have one of the best "link dump"s around.  Sure, some people might give you an opinion (which we openly choose not to do, allowing you to formulate your own opinion first), or fit their links into a cute little story, but nobody provides as much content as we do on a daily basis, in a form that you can digest easily and quickly.

Another thing I can honestly say?  I've got nothing to do with it.  Long ago, I decided to put Wondahbap firmly in control of The Credits, and it's been one of the best decisions as blog manager I've ever made.  He chose his people, he organizes the schedule.  It is his effort that set the standard for what The Credits has become.

And he chose some damn fine people to help him out as well.  Theshmoes and Vikas_s24 have both done a fantastic job making sure that no matter who is in charge of the daily dish, that dish is well stocked.  I really can't say enough about all three of these dudes.  SSR is lucky to have them all.

So give these guys some love.  They make your job/hobby/passion of being a Laker fan considerably easier, and for that I, at least, am eternally grateful.
