Parade in Pictures
Parking at meter near Metro Station: $4
Metro Day Pass: $5
L.A. Times Commemorative Championship Edition: $1
Coke: $1
Zone Energy Bar: $0 Free sample
Championship Parade: Priceless
It was anticlimatic, and they passed by much too quickly, but it was nice to get out and see all the Lakers fans.
I will post the first few so you can get a glimpse, I will update this post later tonight, along with a short video clip.
The pictures are mostly of the scene and the fans, I went to video mode to record the players.
Here is a screenshot from the video clip I will post later:
Update: more pics and a video clip after the jump

Nice, I watched online
man I wish I were in Cali, I’m moving soon(LOL)
There are basic Fundamentals that are needed to move forward in this game. Always keep your guard up at all times to avoid being caught in a trap. Overcome the fouls that will be committed against you REBOUND AND PRESS ON. ADJUST to the Limelight: ALL-STAR PLAYERS ARE ALWAYS THE CENTER OF ATTENTION. Know what your role is and play your position. Find a game plan and execute it. REMEMBER YOU ONLY GET OUT OF THE GAME WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT.
Awesome picture diary
I saw a lot of the same stuff you did like the guys with the big Kobe hand signs and the We <3 haters signs. I also took the metro to get there. Me and my friend really had no idea what we trains or exits to take, but it was way easy just to follow the sea of purple and gold.

That’s where we were standing. Got to see Kobe hoist the trophy AND stood in the shade!
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.
o and by the way
did you buy the day pass at the metro rail? We only bought one one-way ticket each for $1.25 and it seemed like we never even needed it. All the toll booths were green lighted and people just ran through ’em.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.
Yeah I recognize that after I bought the pass
They weren’t even checking

I say we draft him now,
considering he is related to Pau & Marc, who are both phenomenal athletes for their size.

ok heres my pics:
hopefully everything loads properly

I decided I would take the Metro Rail to the parade because I would have been stuck and traffic and with so much people going, it would be a drag navigating in and out of downtown LA. When I arrived at the Sierra Madre Villa Station, at around 9:30, the parking garage had zero empty parking spots left, except a few that were for handicap park, so I had to go all the way back out to the street and park there.
Getting there took about an hour. I had to take several trains which were packed like a can of sardines with fellow Laker fans, with more getting on at each stop. I got off at the Blue Line station adjacent to Staples Center. It was very close to the start of the parade and the most crowded spot for viewing so I walked a few blocks south towards the Convention Center. That spot was not as crowded and had a curb/sidewalk to stand on.

As you can see, my spot was still pretty packed.
I made it here at around 11:00, the parade itself didnt reach my spot for another 15 to 20 minutes so I took some pictures of other stuff.

Staples Center sign with the Good Year blimp on the right.

another picture of my spot.

the police keeping a hawks eye over the crowd.
finally the parade came to where I was at.

the Laker girls.

Some guy riding on a fire engine. Initially I thought it was Michael Cooper, but after looking over the photo again I ruled that out.

one of the double decker buses carrying Laker trainers/ staff I assume.

the Lakers float arrives, and it looks like Kobe is holding a Vitaminwater in his hand.

Kobe and his wife and daughters.

Shannon Brown

Theres Sasha. Ron Artest is the one on the right with the funny hat and cigar.

Have we seen the last of Jordan Farmar??

AC Green folks!!!!

Magic!!!

Kareem!!!

the Laker float…

cool laker shirt.

LA Live looks cool.

is this really Vic the Brick?

funniest picture of the day.

Holy Shit.
Dude, I got on at Sierra Madre Villa at exactly the same time! Hah, I ended up parking in that Best Buy parking lot across the street, and I saw some car getting towed about a row down from mine.

I think that is Vic the Brick, I saw him on the stream interviewing Kobe

Ah, Kareem.
When the seemingly annual Greatest Ever discussions come up, his name his mysteriously missing from the guest list. 6 MVP’s, 6 rings? Hmm.
I'm here to talk about the past.

Great pics Gil & shaqfor3...
Damn…
And here’s me half a world away…
The half-crazed ramblings of a Lakers fanatic living in Japan...
a) Where is the pretty of your sexy ass, Gil?
a. Do Kobe’s wifes boobies can bigger each time we win the championship?
b) Loston Celtricks…. Can we please start using that at the SSR
c) LOLZ at taking a picture at the Walton Jersey
d) Note to muralist: How much did Luke pay you to put him instead of Bynum, heck even Shannon Sasha and Farmar are more worthy of being up there (I’m assuming/hoping the picture goes on the other side of the building
e) There are tons of obese people in LA
In Kobe we trust!
I was just a photojournalist representing SSR

I surprised my Dad and flew him to the championship parade
from Kentucky and me from San Antonio for a Father’s Day treat. I have always wanted to be at a Lakers victory parade since I was a kid and I figured a back-to-back celebration was a good a reason as any to head on out. It was a great time to see all the purple and gold, all the love, and all the good vibes from the Laker fans. I took some decent pics but am having trouble posting them. I also took pictures of Vic the Brick as well (I’m pretty sure it was him). Here’s to a restful summer for the Lakeshow; regroup, and 3peat!!!
Hey man that's awesome.

Thanks y'all
That beat-up police car with the new paint job that Gil took some pics of? We stood right in front of that when the parade went by. Right next to it was a white truck with some old dude was repping some ‘2012 Apocalypse’ noise… he was hilarious! So what’s up with this picking up Raja Bell for the Bench Mob rumor?
