Wow did that just happen?
Everything we hoped would change with a change in venue came about:
- Bench showed up. Boy, did they ever show up: Shannon, Sasha, Jordan and Lamar are totally different players in Los Angeles. Give Jordan major props for getting down on the floor on that one play. Inspiring. He fought for that inch.
- Pau was aggressive and fought for the ball, and he too is a different player in Los Angeles
- Kobe was aggressive from the get go, but was in best Kobe mode, where he sometimes makes everyone think he’s going to shoot, and then passes, putting the defense on its heels. A few early turnovers, so he needs to clean that up. I think he showed he’s a pretty good rebounder when call upon to be one.
- The whistle went the Lakers way, with the refs not going for Paul Pierce’s flailings. (Did you see him try to trip Pau on the play where Shannon had a fast break dunk?)
Those quick fouls on Fisher may have been a blessing – I think Fisher’s value is more apparent in close intense games. Those fouls allowed Shannon and Sasha to get some nice playing time.

Which is why I’m guarded about Game 7 … the Lakers better not think they have this Celtics team solved, because they aren’t going to have a 20 point lead to start the game, they have to start the process all over and come with 2X the Game 6 effort and hustle …
