Stay Classy L.A?

The story for the next couple of days is going to be all about the pressure being put on the Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe blew up for 38 of the hardest earned points of his life and that isn't going to get it done without the necessary help. The writers here at SS&R will undoubtedly cross all the i's and dot the t's (Yes, I know what I wrote. >.<). The Lakers have to win the next two games or they get to go away, because home don't want nothing to do with another crappy outing from this team. They can start by playing intelligent team defense and stepping up to the pressure. I'm sure that's easier said than done because 7.5 million a year does not a consistent hero under pressure make(Neither does 23 mil+ by the way). Either way, that storyline will play itself out on the court, the storyline I'm thinking about it relates to the story off the court.

What I've been wondering about this morning is how Los Angeles as a city would react to a Boston defeat or even worse, a Boston win? The thoughts stem from several articles I've read as I'm sure most of you have during the pre-Finals coverage. Los Angeles has an overhyped reputation of getting rowdy after Finals victories, but that was pure fandom at it's ugliest. I don't condone the behavior of any attention-seeking Lakers fan, because we all know how that reflects on the rest of the fan base.

However, we are not talking about pure fandom here, this is not us winning a championship down 3-2 against Orlando, this is us potentially winning/losing against our city's arch rivals. If we were to pull out a victory how would we as a city treat that Boston bus? If we as "die-hard" fans threw rocks at their team bus, slashed the tires, and cut the brake line; who amongst you would feel sorry for the Boston Celtics? I only ask out of curiosity and because it's been engraved in my thought process all morning.

And so, I'll leave you with this quote, "Let ye who cast the first stone have a stone that's much bigger and painted purple and gold, thrown back at him/her."

(NOTE: I don't believe that's a direct quote and I'm pretty sure it opposes the ideal behind the original quote, but it worked out so I used it anyway. =D)

(SECOND NOTE: I've never done a fan post before, but I REALLY want to use the poll button, vote away!)
