If you don't plan on being around your TV Sunday night at 5:30, I don't really know what you are doing on this site. That's because our beloved Lakers will be taking the court right around that time to battle the Phoenix Suns in Game Three of the never-ending Western Conference Finals. If you happen to love all things basketball in addition to all things purple and gold, you'll probably find yourself in a similar situation on Saturday night.
But if you are really a hardcore lover of all things NBA, that's still not enough. And this weekend, you've got a wonderful solution to your NBA addiction: The NBA Nation Tour and Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown, going on at Universal CityWalk in Hollywood.
The NBA Nation Tour is a customized 18-wheel truck that expands into a 20,000-square-foot basketball playground for fans of all ages to participate in a variety of activities. The NBA Nation action is non-stop, including competitions, basketball games, contests and prizes. Along with the activities, there will be appearances by Lakers legends James Worthy and Michael Cooper, as well as Darryl Dawkins and Kevin Love. The Laker girls will also be performing on both Saturday and Sunday.
The Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown is the signature event of the weekend. On Saturday, amateur dunkers from all over the Southland will go at each other in an attempt to win $1,000 and have the opportunity to advance to the finals of the Slam Dunk Showdown, to be held during All-Star weekend 2011, which just happens to be in lovely Los Angeles.
I'll be checking the festivities out myself on Sunday before the game. Hit up my inbox if you're interested in catching me there.
