Bynum to Miss at Least Four Games
That's the word out of Laker HQ today after doctor review of Bynum's MRI revealed a strain but no rupture. Drew will be reevaluated in a week, so he could miss time in addition to the Washington game on Sunday and the first three games of the upcoming road trip. Keep in mind the team's track record of giving initial recovery-time estimates that usually get extended at least once.

i expect him to miss the entire road trip and maybe a little longer
The team is usually extra cautious with injuries like these like when Gasol had that hamstring injury. With the playoffs approaching, I would expect them to take their time.
"Just by the aura of D.J. Mbenga being there, the shot missed."
If there's no rupture, then he should be fine
Just a matter of rest at this point.
To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.
Achilles Injuries are tricky. They can re-aggravate like you wouldn't believe.
Speak from experience. There’s a lack of thorough blood supply to tendons. They take longer to heal, you feel fine after a lot of rest and then you hear it pop again. Trickest injury in athletics.

I agree. Better to rest him now and make sure he’s healthy rather than rush him back and have it be sore for the playoff run..

And on the last day god made Kobe unstoppable,is it possible to stop something unstoppable?
Uhm, we've still got Ammo buddy...
Sure didn’t expect you to forget that… or maybe you didn’t. I get it, you were just joking because we DO have Ammo.
Hah.
Actually, the way this kid gets hurt I’m still concerned. We’ve suffered through some serious set backs this year. I think the team is going to play harder when he’s out, sort of like when Kobe and Pau sat. Let’s see, we need it now!
if only ammo could play center

I was hoping Bynum would get hurt
For those of you with a serious stats Jones, here’s my favorite:
In seasons when Bynum misses games with injury, the Lakers make the Finals!
In all seriousness I hope Bynum keeps his head up. He’s one who’s confidence really swings when he’s in a slump, injured or otherwise adversely affecting the team. It’s just an age thing, but hopefully that improves with time as well.
His reaction was pretty good
Phil went out of his way to compliment him on it. I wouldn’t worry too much about this, assuming that he has a week or two before the playoffs to get back into a rhythm.

Just got back from Fam Jam...never again.
Talk about a cluster fuck. Thousands and thousands of peoples in long, long, long lines. Everything was a line. 30 mins for beer, an hour for tacos, etc.
I was actually very lucky in the autograph dept and ended up scoring Kareem, Jamal Wilkes, Mychal Thompson, and Luke Walton. Everyone was super nice except Kareem. That was my first experience with Kareem and he acted like advertised. I asked him how he was doing but he didn’t even respond. The line ended up being close to 4 or 5 hours long at the end which is insane.
Anyways, I’ll stick to my Upper Deck signings and going to the games.
Hope Bynum gets well soon.

That is the main reason I don't go to those things.
I love the team but i’m not big on autographs.
Kareem has a history of being a prick. Then people ask why he has a hard time being offered jobs in the NBA. He doesn’t have to be a nice guy but he doesn’t have to be a jerk either. Especially in public events. Either way, that is the main reason I don’t go gaga over famous people because they already have big egos and that just boosts it even more to the point that they act like a-holes. I’m glad you got to get some autographs though.

wow
I never really thought of Kareem acting like that. I always saw him as a nice guy.
"Just by the aura of D.J. Mbenga being there, the shot missed."
He really is..
I have read that Kareem is like that because of the 60"s. He became very stand off-ish because of what he went through due to his race during the civil rights. Bill Russell does’t act like that and he went through worst treatment. Either way, Kareem was an amazing talent but most people say he is a jerk.

Yea
and he had to personalize all the autographs so that you couldn’t re-sell it. Now I wasn’t there to re-sell his autograph but at the same time I didn’t want it personalized, it’s tacky. Oh well. They didn’t give you a choice though, if you wanted an auto, it had to be personalized.

What's personalizing an autograph?
"The guy said NBA players are one in a million... I said, 'Man, look, I'm going to be that one in a million.'" - Kobe

UPDATE
Dave Mcmenamin estimates Bynum misses 6 games.
Some choice quotes:
Bynum could not walk on the foot without the assistance of a boot when he woke up Saturday morning, according to Jackson.
“I just have a lot of pain in that area,” Bynum said. “I’ll be re-evaluated in a week. There’s really not too much to say until that really calms down.”
The Lakers will be in Houston in a week, preparing for the Rockets, the third game of their upcoming five-game road trip. Bynum will travel with the team rather than stay back and rehabilitate the injury in Los Angeles. Bynum said that he expected the re-evaluation to occur at the end of the road trip when the team returns to L.A. on April 1, meaning that Bynum will probably be out of the lineup for at least the next six games, counting the Lakers game against the Wizards at home Sunday.
The 22-year-old was starting to play his best basketball of the season, averaging 20.0 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.0 blocks during the Lakers’ four-game winning streak coming into Friday’s game, but said he hasn’t let the timing of the injury get to him.
Lakers sixth man Lamar Odom will step into the starting lineup in Bynum’s absence, but Odom is dealing with an injury of his own.
Odom has been playing with an aggravated left shoulder that he first injured 14 games ago when going up for a dunk against Boston’s Ray Allen.
“The part that I hate about the injury the most is that when I go to call on it, it might not answer me,” Odom said. “I can go up with the basketball, make a strong move and then [the shoulder will] be like, ‘No, not this time.’ That’s the part that aggravates me the most about it.”
Odom said that he does not expect to shoot well or rebound well, adding, “But, I can still play basketball.” The 6-10 forward said he will wait until the offseason to seek out further medical attention for the shoulder.
My friends, I shall sum all this up in one word: fuck.

:(
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.
this kid pisses me off so much
how is he THIS injury prone?? Maybe his body just isnt NBA worth and hes always gonna be like this. Maybe we should trade him because if hes this young, with barely any miles on him and hes getting injured this much, how the hell can we build around him in the future? I say shop him and try to get Bosh or someone in the offseason whether we win the title or not. Do it when his value is still high. Again, Im not sayin this cuz of his attitude or anything, cuz it hurts since he’s got huge upside. But hes just too brittle and I dont think you can build around him just like Portland cant build around Oden.

dude, both of his knee injuries were freak accidents.
this one is a strain. Pau has missed WAY more time this year than Bynum.
Not everyone is superman like Kobe.
Calm down.

that was expected...
wouldnt make sense for them to rush him back during the middle of the road trip…regardless I’ll take this over him missing the rest of the season (including playoffs).
"Just by the aura of D.J. Mbenga being there, the shot missed."
Bynum's injury doesn't worry me as much as Odom's
Because while Bynum’s should heal up before the Playoffs, Odom’s sounds like something he’s gonna have to play through until the offseason, and something he’ll possibly require surgery on.

The past is a good indication of the present
During last year’s playoffs Odom took a nasty foul against Utah or Denver and teammates said he had a baseball size lump on his lower back. If you ask me LO played huge in the playoffs and he even doubled Bynums minutes so I wouldn’t worry to much about him. He has proven he can play and be very effective even if injured. Bynum is another story.
