    From Hardwood Paroxysm...
    Lemon Face: Pau Gasol
It’s not that Pau Gasol played poorly by any means. 17 points and nine rebounds can make a lovely evening for any power forward. It’s just that latelty, he’s been showing up soft in big moments. Perhaps he was supposed to shed that soft label during the NBA Finals when he put up nice numbers, gave great tough effort and won an NBA title. But I can’t shake that feeling that he’s still not comfortable doing the little things in crunch time that you need him to do. Be confident with the ball. Secure the rebound. Box the F out. Challenge the shot in a way that doesn’t allow a sea of opponents to wash in behind you and flood the offensive boards. Pau has shown to be much better. Maybe we can just chalk this up to him being in the same funk the Lakers were in.

Regarding Andrea Bargnani being late on the trap:

Even if he passes to Pau Gasol there, SO WHAT?!?

I though it was funny. There’s a reason Pau shouldn’t be so vocal in his complaints. He’s continually been less than stellar down the stretch and that’s no one’s fault but his own. Kobe may have his faults at times, but more often than not, it leads to winning. Pau has to secure rebounds and dunk the ball. Not throw up weak shit that goes over the rim.

I’m not saying he’s soft. Just a little soft-ish. (Only works if you know the Chris Rock “crackish” joke.)

Props to Gasol for delivering the pass to Kobe in the final seconds

    It was positively Luke Walton-esque

anything to help the bench stay within the offense will help.

well anything to basically stop brown and farmar to keep chucking up jump shots when gasol or bynum is posted up right in front of them.

    guys

What is this ‘’Kobe vs Phil rift’’ I saw on ESPN?Does anyone have any knowledge?

by meeer1171 on Mar 10, 2010 12:38 PM PST reply actions

There is none. Its heresay and old garbage from years ago when Shaq left. ESPN is drudging crap up because they are in the mid-season doldrums like the rest of us. We wait patiently for the playoffs, the media guys use artistic license to create stories and pass the time!

    thanks Joshua

But they said it is anew and nowadays Phil will split next year & has nothing got to lose and has no respect at Bryant whatsoever contrary to MJ.

    Tabloid Worthy Garbage

I saw the clip too and it’s just what I said it was. Phil loves messing with the media, he is a master at using them for a number of reasons including his own amusement, to fire up his team and manipulate other teams and the league office. The media falls for it over and over again.
Notice it is some obscure story buried in an ESPN clip list. It’s akin to: “Brad and Angelina, are they separating?” If it were valid every major news outlet would be all over it!

I wonder if "The Italian Job" would have been a cool title for the Credits.

Too little too late, but it fits considering Kobe being born in Italy and the Italian fan being involved in the game.

I think we’re in for a killer run to close out the season, I think (and hope) the team is fed up with the oppositions confidence in getting a W aganst them. Reading that article got me fired up!!!! lol

I'm pleased to hear that by Odom

Cuz they’ve been letting some teams get away with that (expletive) for too long. Can’t be disrespectful to Kobe like that. I was surprised that Barnes would pretend to inbound the ball into Kobe’s face like that. Should have been kicked out. It’s also disrespectful to the game. That belongs on a schoolyard, like elementary school, not the NBA.

Magic made me a Laker fan.

Only saw this after the third viewing and reading some comments on youtube

But Kobe definitely travelled on that last shot.

And I definitely don’t think any ref would ever catch that in real time, and be sure enough of it to make that call.
