Pau must be reading my stuff. haha.
From OC Register link: In the face of Nuggets’ trash talk, Gasol shows Lakers’ heart is through their heads
Gasol explained it this way: "We need really to be the aggressor. We need to challenge people. Instead, we’re always being challenged. That is the way I feel about it.
"We are not aggressive enough, and we need to start challenging teams and imposing our will in games because we can. It is unfortunate sometimes that we don’t do it. We’re happy or content at winning games sometimes and not really playing to our potential."
I wrote this 1/25/10:
“The thing is, they typically aren’t the aggressors. This gets confused for being soft. They’re reactive rather than proactive. It has to be brought out of them…
…I know the Lakers aren’t soft. Sometimes I just want them to be hard. I want them to hit first. Especially in their quest to repeat."
I think it’s funny that Pau says this after 3 minutes of sacking up. If he played every game like he did after Phil shamed him, then we wouldn’t have any of these teams thinking “physicality” will work.
Since when did the Nuggets become tough? Besides Chauncey, this is the same team that we walked through 4-0 two seasons ago. What changed was them thinking or knowing they could get tough.

I know this is not conducive to the Lakers or basketball
but it looks like Pau’s consoling a sobbing Kobe Bryant in that photo. Just the way he’s holding him and the way kobe’s mouth’s open like that.
But back to the topic on hand, I would also add that the Nuggets think “acting tough” is trash talking. WE know trash talking doesn’t work on Kobe … and it probably doesn’t work on the rest of the Lakers, which is probably why the Nuggets weren’t able to get pass the Lakers last year.
Still, they were pretty close, but push come to shove, the Lakers really need to be the first ones to push. They did do that against Orlando, but I’d like to see them do that consistently throughout the playoffs. That Rockets series was ugly and the Nuggets series came down to a couple of Trevor Ariza steals. The Lakers didn’t really throw their first punch until Game 6.

the team's mentality can still change
the lakers have grown “tougher” since the 07-08 season, too.
it’s evolution. even phil says, each year the team is different.
TBJ leaving Ball Don't Lie is a damn shame
Skeets was by far the most entertaining writer there, in my opinion.
Even worse is it’s being taken over by Kobe/Laker hater Trey Kerbey. Goodbye BDL, my favorite NBA blog :(.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.
Ugh, Skeets leaving
Leaves all the intolerable bloggers on BDL that I can’t stand in one place: Dwyer and Kerby.
