Kobe will not play tonight's game against the Portland TrailBlazers because of a sprained left ankle. It's the first game he'll miss due to injury since December 8, 2006 in Atlanta.
Official release (Lakers.com):
"Lakers guard Kobe Bryant will miss Saturday evening’s game in Portland due to his sprained left ankle, an injury he originally suffered in Philadelphia on Jan. 29 and that he aggravated against Charlotte on Wednesday."

Opportunity for the Lakers to step it up and gel
Even with Roy out, the way we’re playing now, beating Portland in Portland while missing Kobe is an achievement and potential momentum-changer.

He honestly shouldn’t play again until after the break. Including the all star game, he has to sit that out.

Yeah
Only way he can get Stern’s permission to sit out the All-Star game is if he misses games directly leading up to it.

I doubt Kobe will miss the ASG. He really takes on the mentality that “people come to arenas to watch me play, so its my duty to play all the games that I can” which is why Kobe is always so reluctant to take games off. In part, thats why he plays through so many of his injuries. So many people voted Kobe into the ASG I just can’t envision him not playing, but then again if the ankle injury is serious he just might.
yeah but he isnt really loved in texas....
so i can see him sitting this one out.

I do want him to sit until then, now that I think of it
It’s a very tough stretch of games; and how we perform without Kobe shall be an indicator.
Even without him, we are talented enough to win, and if we flounder massively it might be the final straw indicating we need to shake things up. And, the only way we do win is if the other Lakers step it up to near Championship-level.
