Carter killing Cleveland in the 4th
id like to see cleveland lose 3 straight , we’d be tied in loss column
I could be wrong, but it seems though Lebron's decision making in close games has
tanked since expanding his repertoire.
Carter-Nelson pick and roll killed them
I mean the Magics used that play like 5 times in a row and Carter found himself free 4 times out of 5 …
Celtics getting killed in denver
they allowed 37 points to them so far…
"Just by the aura of D.J. Mbenga being there, the shot missed."
looking at the cavs magic game....
Jamison looks like he’ll fit in fine but I think the one guy thats gonna hurt most is Mo Williams. He looked lost out there and the shots he took were pretty bad.
the worst player they have is West
He’s like the J.R Smith of the East (well he’s not as good of a shooter as JR) with the amount of bad shots he takes and he’s a black hole . I’m sure Mo’ll be fine . One thing though if big Z doesn’t get bought out , cleveland will be in trouble with our size since Shaq can’t play that long and he doesn’t have a real backup
hes comin back
dont even worry about that

Even if we do get him back
I heard that unless the buyout is before March, the player isn’t eligible for the playoffs.
I think Nate Robinson is a good addition to the Celtics.
The Celtics need scoring, and need it badly. Scoring is the one thing Robinson does well. I think he’ll showcase his passing skills too. He’ll fit in just fine. The Celtics could have Robinson and Rondo on the floor at the same time for short periods of time, making the Celtics better at fastbreaking.
i think house was a better fit for them
like he was really efficient at draining the 3
though robinson should help their bench’s offense a lot more…

Yay.....Magin won. Wait.. I am not a magic fan.

On Saturday, Bryant and Vujacic combined on the Lakers’ practice court to do another fun bit: a little soccer-themed segment for ESPN. When Bryant came out of the Lakers’ training room ready to do it, Vujacic wasn’t there. So Bryant headed back in to find him (Vujacic was in there showing Derek Fisher exactly where it hurts on Vujacic’s sprained shoulder) and drag him out.
Vujacic came quickly back out with Bryant, trying to explain: "I was talking to El Presidente," a reference to Fisher being the president of the NBA players’ association.
Bryant didn’t want to hear it and ducked behind Vujacic and grabbed him by the shoulders with both hands to usher him along.
"Oh, yo-yo-yo-yo!" Vujacic howled, sliding his lower body forward to escape the contact because of the pain in his right shoulder.
It was funny … almost as funny as Vujacic’s quote upon being asked about the Olympics.
Vujacic, who is from Slovenia, offered this simple summary to the local reporter: "You guys are winning."
"There is no substitute for hustle and if you don't hustle there will be a substitute." -Tex Winter
that article actually links to another funny Kobe and Sasha moment dating back Oct 2008 that I hadn’t/don’t remember reading..
http://www.ocregister.com/sports/vujacic-55083-bryant-says.html
Flush with that fulfilled feeling of workout done hard, Vujacic does one last thing as he nears Bryant and the exit door of the court. His reversible white jersey already soaked through with sweat, the extra tape on his left ankle visibly peeking up out of his sock, Vujacic pauses to grab a loose ball and throw up a 50-foot hook shot. It misses.
Bryant scoffs. He laughs. He says it wasn’t even close.
Vujacic clangs the rim a few times and grows increasingly frustrated.
"Now don’t start pulling your hair out!" Bryant says to the shaggy Slovenian.
Vujacic tries banking the ball in and comes very close on most every attempt – but can’t stick the landing.
"This is like watching ‘Titanic,’ " Bryant says. "The uncut version!"
The whole article is quite funny and worth reading.

But the Basketball Gods were clearly offended by LeBron’s gunning, because they let Carmelo Anthony (40 points, 6 boards, 7 assists) hit the game-winner over his good buddy’s outstretched claw. We can only hope King Crab understands it’s nothing personal…just business.
Said the Chosen Crustacean: “It’s finally me being on the other end I guess. I’m so used to being on the other end making shots and looking at guys.”

This is interesting.
HP looks at “rim” defenses and the Lakers are not that great against upper echelon teams.
http://www.hardwoodparoxysm.com/2010/02/18/nba-hd-a-look-at-at-rim-defense-by-team/
The Lakers plummet 14 spots in the ranks going from poor offenses to good offenses as their field goal percentage skyrockets from .549 to .656. It could prove fatal in the playoffs once you consider that most playoff teams excel at the basket. Although, the Lakers did stop the Spurs recently last Monday, holding Tim Duncan and the rest of the Spurs to just 16-34 shooting at the basket, which serves as a sharp contrast to their 18-24 FG showing on January 12th. This will be something to watch as the season goes on.
Of all the upper echelon teams (the teams I consider upper echelon anyway) the Lakers are the highest in FG% allowed against the “good” teams.

Denver really matches up well against the elite teams
that worries me alot.
but outside of ty lawson
they are essentially the same team as last year. affallo isn’t that much of an upgrade over dantay jones
You do have to consider though that Chauncey’s had a full season and training camp to get acquainted with the team. That helps them a lot.

and that Melo is much better than he was last year
and we have nobody who can guard him
by desecrator09 on Feb 21, 2010 2:27 PM PST up reply actions
well there's not many ppl who can in the league
look what he did to ’Bron … though i think he can be slowed down with Kobe or Artest on him
not Artest
he has ZERO chance against Melo. Kobe can slow him down but it’ll take way too much out of him and we need him for offense
by desecrator09 on Feb 21, 2010 2:29 PM PST up reply actions
I remember Kobe on him last year
man , old Kob’ got pushed around .. Melo is strong . I like his game , its beautiful , second only to Kobe’s
he got pushed around but he still slowed him down
If I had to choose who would guard him in the 4th quarter, I’d choose KB over Ron anyday.

that series was very good , loved how we won
but it’s a new year with new challenges plus they have lawson which i think they added for us after what Houston(Brooks) did to us last season
yea, lebron is athelethic and get the passing lanes
but one-on-one, he’s not the level of kobe and healthy feet artest.
plus, lebron seems to have troubles with post-defense.
well the first game against them
they completely destroyed us , but that second game man , those 3s … i don’t think we’d have been able to win it
At this point you can’t deny that they are a threat though, more so then last year (imo)
"There is no substitute for hustle and if you don't hustle there will be a substitute." -Tex Winter
no , I always saw them as a threat
especially with how they came out last WCF , it was crazy . We need to beat them to win the FInals because beating them is never going to be easy and that’s one of the challenges we need
chauncy had a pretty full season with them last year, too
the only difference though, i think is mentally. they’re a lot more hungrier after losing to us last year.
if we had the same mentality as last year, i think we can still take them on.
Denver is 8-2 (thus far Boston game going on right now not included) against the upper-echelon teams. Upper-echelon teams being Boston, Dallas, San Antonio, the Lakers, Orlando, and Cleveland. They still have to play the Lakers twice and Boston, Dallas, Orlando, and San Antonio once.
In contrast, the Lakers are 5-6 against these teams. Lakers still have to play Denver twice, Spurs twice, Dallas once, and Orlando once.

denver is looking a lot like us last year
beating the contenders then losing to sub .500 teams

The difference for the Lakers between this season and the last one are the injuries.
"There is no substitute for hustle and if you don't hustle there will be a substitute." -Tex Winter
i agree
alot of times we’ve lost to the elite teams, we werent completely healthy and/or werent playing well leading up to those games. I have to say though that Denver is much improved from last year and can knock us out in the playoffs.

Just as FYI: A player can return to the team that traded 30 days after the trade, but there can’t be a pre-arranged deal to so. Have pre-arranged deals happened for years? Yup. Has the NBA ever tried to enforce it much? Nope. Folks asking if NBA can stop Z return to Cavs: If league can show evidence of a pre-arranged deal, yes, it can. Real hard to prove, though.

i am happy that the cavs lost again. suddenly, the lakers are tied with the cavs on the loss column. tuesday’s game is a big one.
i know eh
plus i doubt they’ll lose against NO w/o CP3 but I hope we stay as focused playing Memphis with the way we lost last time
daren collison has been putting up nice games though
but i think it really depends on whether or not peja suddenly catches fire….
something i dont get is
I dunno why our bigs have struggled against Big Z so much this year when last year, he got eaten up by either Bynum, Pau or LO. Go back and watch some tape of those 2 games last year and Pau was abusing him nearly every time he was guarding him.
hopefully, we're just being overly cautious
and it was really just pau having a stretch of bad games…
or maybe shaq’s body was taking up too much space in the low post for pau to function…
That has more to do with Shaq
His age has nothing to do with his ability to stil be able to clog up the paint. Shaq is still a forced to be reckoned with..

The Cavs have won with him yet
but really, I think his lack of any postseason success in the NBA has more to do with playing most of his career with the Warriors and Wizards, 2 teams known more for the W’s in their name and lack of W’s in the win column.
