So this is the team we are taking to the playoffs

Does this team intimidate you? didn't think so. well this is the team we are taking with us for basketball warfare. we can only hope kobes shoulders dont give from holding the world on his back for another 4 months. that yellow guy (gasol) looks kinda scary.

Hopefully Kobe can read the book "How to win" to the bench in between games. teaching these guys to not commit suicidal turnovers would help to! Scientists and medical doctors agree kobes back will go out from the pressure of lifting the entire city of LA on his back for another 4 months

If Kobe will ever admit defeat why should we?

Btw..funny ass picture above. I can admit the Lakers, like EVERY other team in the NBA has flaws. The strongest teams in the NBA are the Lakers and the Cavs. But simply put:

2 wins against the Lakers + 1 trade = will never equal a throw in the towel mentality from me.

The Cavs HAD better inside strength until they got rid of Ilgauskas. Even if they get him back I could care less. I will always have 100% faith in the Lakers. I know they have their weakneses but so do the Cavs. Shaq is old, inexperience, Lebron not being clutch (no matter what the media says), what happens when you are put on the free throw line with the Larry O’brien trophy is on the line? I know a couple of Lakers who have been in that situation many..many times.. Only Shaq on the Cavs has been in those situations and it has always been Kobe who has rescued him. But he doesn’t have Kobe anymore and Lebron has rarely shown the ability to come through in those moments.

I disagree with you...

as much as I hate to admit it..
the Cavs are looking good right now…
I’m not saying it’s a done deal for them, but you can’t just overlook the fact that they are steamrolling over teams right now… they beat the Lakers bad…. and I’ve seen them play other teams… they’ve got shooters everywhere, Lebrick can defend and he’s starting to brick no longer…

I still think the Lakers can beat them in a series but you can’t just over look them..

I’m hoping that Jamison becomes the Jefferson of Cleveland..
non existent…

Kobe: "If you’re afraid to fail, then you’re probably going to fail," he says, laughing. "You know what I mean? Fuck it."

by Hensi24 on Feb 18, 2010 11:03 AM PST up reply actions

defenitely not overlooking them at all..

But the Cavs are being talked about in the same way that they were last year before they got bounced out of the playoffs. Maybe i’m wrong, but if Lebron doesn’t hit that hail mary in game two the Cavs would have been swept. I really do think that the Cavs play against the Lakers has put a concern and fear in Laker fans. This is not just on SSR but all over the internet. This has nothing to do with acknowleding that they are a good team but it’s about having the mentality that the Lakers have already lost because of two regular season losses to the Cavs.

ONE CAN ONLY PRAY....

that the lakers themselves dont start believing that….AND i doubt they will

haha we’re fine. Just as long as we’re healthy come post season time, I dont see why we should worry.

Sure the Cavs have a very worrisome lineup, but i have a feeling Lebron will be dog tired after having to carry his team through a much tougher East, that is to say IF they make it that far

In Kobe we trust!

and that is to say

IF he has to carry them considering the breadth of talent that is on his team.

Playoffs

Yea this is the team we’re taking to the playoffs. Virtually the same team that won the title last year with the exception of Ron Artest. Why do you think Cleveland picked up Jaimeson. They are afraid of the Lakers even though they swept the Lakers during the season. Orlando swept the Lakers. Looked what happned in yhe Playoffs. Cleveland won;t ever be a considered legit. untill they win a title so bring em on!!!!!

i feel u

but with luke out. kobe un healthy. ron artest not being as good as ariza and the fact that every team in the nba got alot better kind of scares. me cavs lost 3 in a row i hope they keep the streak alive

ron artest not being as good as ariza?

not necessarily…

it’s a swap (at worst) depending on what you need at the moment

by Nostance on Feb 21, 2010 4:09 PM PST up reply actions

Why people are still convinced about this are beyond me
ron artest not being as good as ariza

Artest hasn’t even fully fit into the offense yet and yet the huge disparity between this year’s and last year’s defense indicates the difference in what they bring to this team. Ariza was a decent defender with a high ceiling. Artest is a great defender with an established ceiling. Latter is far more valuable for our current circumstances. All this naturally ignoring the fact that if Artest ever gets fully integrated into the offense, we’re going to be incredibly difficult to beat.

To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.

artest is slow

puts up alot of bad shots, and i dont think hes as smart as ariza.

i hope your right though but i dont think this team is going to gel as well with kobe being more injured than he was last year

artest isn't as atheletic as ariza, and that's about it.

not saying trevor is bad or anything, because he’s great. but there’s no sign showing that artest has a lower basketball IQ than ariza or takes worse shot selections.

however, artest really doesn’t finish at the rim as well as ariza (probably the worse lay-up finisher after fisher). however, he’s a better ball handler, better passer, a more consistent shooter, and can do a better job creating shots for himself and team mates. he’s definitely a luxury to have to pick up the slack, esp when guys like kobe are out.

the only thing is, the lakers don’t use all of his talents (on offense) because they don’t need all of it. They already have many guys who can handle the ball and create.

by Nostance on Feb 22, 2010 4:43 PM PST up reply actions

both couldnt really finish at the rim

i remember ariza looked very wild when trying to drive to the paint or put in a missed shot…

"Just by the aura of D.J. Mbenga being there, the shot missed."

by shaqfor3 on Feb 22, 2010 5:07 PM PST up reply actions

Ariza was definitely better off cuts and in transition

But in practically everything else, Artest is better.

by Ben R on Feb 22, 2010 7:34 PM PST up reply actions

Artest's post up game is seriously underrated

not to mention that Ariza was better than Artest at defending the passing lanes Artest causes more of a disruption on the offensive end when he drives to the basket. His strength makes him a way better box out player and he is every where on defense. He seems to be involved in some way shape or form to almost all loose balls. On top of that there is no way that Ariza is a better one on one defender than Artest. I predict that Artest’s value will come through more in the playoffs.

Practically all untrue

Artest’s shot selection has been very controlled, and he makes generally very good decisions with the ball, especially passing to cutters, where he exceeds Ariza in every way possible. To claim that he isn’t as intelligent as Ariza is baseless.

Also, no, Artest isn’t slow. Even when bothered by his foot injury, he wasn’t that slow, and he’s rounded into form.

by Ben R on Feb 22, 2010 7:33 PM PST up reply actions

Look at Ariza's stats

and tell me he’s better. Not scoring and all that. Opposing player’s production when they play positions. Check 82games and you’ll see how much better Artest is for defense as well as the offense with him.

by Marty Mart on Feb 22, 2010 11:19 AM PST up reply actions

We haven't even hit the first playoff series and we get the downers already?

Good heavens. We’ve barely begun to hit on all cylinders (the Gasol-Bynum pairing beginning to work together, Artest becoming more integrated into the offense, our backcourt rotation stabilizing) and we get projections of this team’s ceiling.

Breathe a bit and appreciate what we have.

by Ben R on Feb 22, 2010 12:25 AM PST reply actions

that is true

however, with 2/3 of the season gone, i hope the integration period is comming to a close soon.

by Nostance on Feb 22, 2010 1:37 PM PST up reply actions

hahah yea this integration period has taken wayyyy longer than anyone imagined…. to be fair however we have really had very few chances to play healthy with a full compliment of players…. it is comforting to see that we are able to still beat quality teams without our major pieces

In Kobe we trust!

by robi s on Feb 22, 2010 7:28 PM PST up reply actions

i feel way different about the team now

and Artest is way better than ariza idk what i was smoking. go lakers
