But it's not like it used to be.

But guys today want instant gratification. We live in a world of 24-hour news, instant messaging, DVRing and running past commercials, why not get a championship as soon as you enter the league (not Dwight necessarily). No one wants to wait.

yeah

franchise players from the 80s/90s more often stuck with their teams. Some of them left for briefs stints with another team before retiring, but thats a different story. Today, these guys are willing to part ways while they are still in their prime and have plenty of time left.

Dwight Howard has his “eye on the Lakers” if the Magic don’t win a title in the next two years, sources tell ESPN’s Ric Bucher.

Howard’s contract is up after the 2011/12 season. The Magic are doing everything they can to appease him in the meantime, but apparently a title is high on the big man’s wish list. Regardless, it’s really hard to see Howard as a Laker. It would take something drastic for them to fit Howard under the salary cap.

Yea it's marketing thing...

….Players like to use teams like the Lakers so that rival teams, which in the Lakers case consists of 29 teams, can go all out in preventing from said team to get “high class” free agent….

Yeah, if Orlando's gonna lose an All-Star, why not get a borderline All-Star center back

It’s only logical!

A Bynum sign-and-trade is the most logical solution

We would need to trade him anyways if we got Dwight, so you might as well send him to Orlando in the process.

which plan do you think is better?

Roski’s or Leiweke’s?

Roski’s is the most fan friendly, but at the same time, it would be nice to have a stadium in the heart of the city.

Well, according to the article, it looks like Roski has most of his shit together

The list of stuff Cole indicated that he’s already analyzed, had approved, done the logistics for, and whatnot is pretty comprehensive. On the other hand, Leiweke seems to be shooting for the stars. If he really wants all he claims he wants to do, you’d have to be Warren Buffet to eat that much construction costs to build the damn thing. In the end, I don’t really mind who gets the team, but I’ll definitely side with the guy who looks like he knows his stuff and that looks like Roski right now.

ESPN auto-starting their vids never ceases to piss me off..

Kobe Bryant used to be a fourth-quarter assassin. Now older, Kobe's impact is completely intangible in the fourth. Why? He's too busy chillin' on the bench after murdering the third.
