With this acquisition, and if Kevin Garnett is healthy for the playoffs in 2010, the Lakers may well get their shot at revenge against their hated rivals.

From the AP report:

"Reports from FOXSports.com and the Boston Globe on Sunday indicated Wallace is expected to sign a two-year contract for the mid-level exception [expected to be around $5.8 million]. He cannot formally do so until Wednesday, the first day NBA free agents can sign."

Wow Boston has an All-Star Starting Squad

If only it were the 1990s …

Oh this season will be great

I want that rematch so I like the move but they still ain’t beating the Lakers

There are basic Fundamentals that are needed to move forward in this game. Always keep your guard up at all times to avoid being caught in a trap. Overcome the fouls that will be commited against you REBOUND AND PRESS ON. ADJUST to the LimeLight: ALL-STAR PLAYERS ARE ALWAYS THE CENTER OF ATTENTION. Know what your role is and play your position. Find a game plan and execute it. REMEMBER YOU ONLY GET OUT OF THE GAME WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT.

HUGE

Big, BIG splash, let’s make more waves…
BANNER 18 is there for the taking, this is a super talented and experienced squad.
KEEEEEEEEEEEP Rondo.
I’d vote NO for Grant Hill, but that’s just me.
I totally trust Danny.
Heck, he brought us 17.
And he’ll bring us 18.
Who cares is ARTEST is in LA LA LAND.
The Celtics signed an experienced and dedicated player.
The Lakers signed a crazy person.

Don’t fake the funk on a nasty dunk

looks like celtics nation is ecstatic and knocking artest and the lakers. it’s all good. damn, i wish we can play both the cavs and celtics in the finals next year, just so we can shut both of their fans up.

by chaucer on Jul 5, 2009 8:39 PM PDT reply actions

If we beat the one, it will shut up the other

If we beat the Celtics, it will mean the Cavs failed to get there TWICE, and the Lakers beat better teams than the Cavs TWICE. That will shut up Cavs fans. Meanwhile, if the Celtics can’t get there with arguably a better roster than 2007-08, they won’t be able to say anything. And again, if the Cavs are the best team in the East, and we beat them, then we can say whatever we want to Celtics fans, regardless of whether we played them or not.

I’ll take either one, because either one will be an incredibly satisfying victory, and either one will give us unquestionable bragging rights over both.

On second thought...

I’d rather play the Celtics.

For one thing, we owe them. The Cavs haven’t beaten us, so victory would be sweet, but revenge is sweeter.

For another, I got more satisfaction from watching the Cavs lose to someone else than I did from watching the Celtics lose to someone else. So to me, maximum satisfaction = the Cavs losing to anybody and the Celtics losing to us.

forreal both fan clubs need to chill

their claiming they’re soon going to be getting grant hill as well. not sure how much more he has to offer.

by chaucer on Jul 5, 2009 8:41 PM PDT reply actions

I agree that this makes them the favorites to come out of the east. Unless KG doesn’t get back to 100%.

by lazNirv on Jul 5, 2009 8:57 PM PDT reply actions

OK I agree Artest is good on Pierce & LeBron

To me we have to get through the west first so I am much more interested in what happens to the Spurs & Portland.

I can’t figure out what the Spurs are doing. They added Jefferson and a rookie or two but that ain’t gonna help Duncan in the paint. How will they get past Dallas (Dampier, Gortat) or Portland (Oden, Pryzbilla, Aldridge) not to mention the Lakers will kill ’em.

Then Portland tries for Hedo and now ESPN is reporting they’re targeting David Lee although they probably won’t get him. What the F are they up to?

I’m so confused. Must be time to go to bed.

the Big Thirtysomething just got older. not a good move for the C’s if they lose Davis and Powe.

Rasheed's best days were in the last century

I don’t think this is the move to put the Celtics back in the finals. Check out the Detroit fans attitudes about losing him. no one will miss him.He has a bad attitude, failed to show up for games (mentally) and you never knew when he was going to "lose it ". one or more of Boston’s fossilized four (can I trademark that ?) will be injured or not at full strength when the playoffs start. That will give them another excuse for next year, but these guys aren’t getting any younger. It’s not just their ages that is a problem, the big three spent their prime career years as the main man on bad teams. That is going to wear on your body. There is also talk that Ainge wants to trade Rondo because Rivers finds him uncoachable. I f Boston trades Rondo, they are done. Unless they can get another ex Celtic to give them a good deal.
