Kobe plays 94 feet of defense on Lebron aha!!

From the 2005-2006 season, Lebron James grabs a board and heads downcourt, but Kobe will not let him go. He plays defense the length of the court and steals the ball at the baseline, and Smush Parker gets the layup and 1 for the Lakers.

so rick kamla, is kobe an overrated defender?

i guess he's wrong.

look at what doug collins said:

"LeBron learned a lot from Kobe during the past two summers (with Team USA)," Collin said. "And it was then that LeBron made a conscious effort to improve his defense. He was the voice of defense on that team and the key to them winning the gold medal."

looks like the guy he is so rooting for learned from the guy he said is overrated.

--

Collins compared Bryant's work ethic and desire to Michael Jordan, whom he coached with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s. He said Jordan had an "encyclopedia-like mind" and studied his opponents.

"Kobe has the same kind of mind," Collins said. "That's why he's one of the great players. It's not just his physical attributes, but his mind as well. He's a defensive guy and a big-time scorer. He sees both ends of the court."

i know this is a bit scattered..but hey, i'm no writer. :)

When Kobe is determined to play defense one-on-one it’s great. I mean it’s a thing of beauty. The Olympics were great to watch because Kobe didn’t have to worry about scoring. All he did was play defense.

A lot of people say Kobe’s defense is over-rated, but they only say that because Kobe doesn’t go all out and play one-on-one every minute he’s on the court. They don’t really watch his defense, or “witness” [for lack of a better word (not trying to go all Lebron here with the we are all witnesses garbage)] very often.

Kobe plays defense sort of how he wants to play offense

He likes to pick and choose his spots to affect the opponent on defense. However, while great when he sets his mind to it, he’s not so great when he’s just “cruising.” This detracts greatly from his alter ego… Dfender Kobe. Dfender Kobe is better than Cruiser Kobe, obviously, but Dfender Kobe is mostly reserved for clutch 4th quarter moments.

exactly right

Kobe doesn’t do full all out D from the tip for every players becase half of the matchups he doesn’t have to so I’ve seen Kobe full defensive potential and it’s definitely far from over-rated.

There are basic Fundamentals that are needed to move forward in this game. Always keep your guard up at all times to avoid being caught in a trap. Overcome the fouls that will be commited against you REBOUND AND PRESS ON. ADJUST to the LimeLight: ALL-STAR PLAYERS ARE ALWAYS THE CENTER OF ATTENTION. Know what your role is and play your position. Find a game plan and execute it. REMEMBER YOU ONLY GET OUT OF THE GAME WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT.

There’s a video with Kobe defending Jason Terry:

You might want to mute it, JVG and the others are painful to the ears.

P.S. Collins uses every opportunity he can to compare Kobe/Lebron to Michael. I mean every. opportunity. he. can. find. he. will. do. it. Collins can be horrible to listen to. The first time you listen to him he’s alright, then maybe the 2nd, 3rd, etc times is when you realize all his stuff is just the same regurgitated things he brings up over and over and over and over again.

Kobe gets extra points because Kwame and Smush were involved on that play. That’s like negative contributions.

LBJ keeps using his off arm to try to fend off Kobe

But Kobe stays focused, look at him move his feet, this one play would make me tired for the rest of the game.
