Stoudemire to the Lakers no longer a dream
Recently there has been talk of Suns F Amare Stoudemirebeing traded to various places including Houston and Golden State but one rumor he himself was content to start was him going to Los Angeles, and so with that some have brought up the idea of Stoudemire being traded to the Lakers with Lakers C Andrew Bynum as the center piece of the deal and of course others would be added to offset salaries.
Of course this all seems quite far fetched but so did Pau Gasolfor next to nothing and yet that still happened, and knowing Steve Kerr all he needs is a little nudge from Kupchak and this deal would be as good as done.
This deal would be beneficial to both sides seeing as how the Suns want to start new with young talent that won't be quite so overpaid and the Lakers would get a monster of a player who would no doubt submit to Bryant, the question is does this deal seem good enough to possibly include a sign and trade involving either Lakers F Trevor Ariza or F Lamar Odom?
If Bryant can lead Stoudemire the way he's done for Gasol this might be a dynasty in the making, here's to hoping Kerr's moron meter tilts to red.

Amare's a chump.
All he cares about is being the man.

I would not take him
If anyone has read “7 Seconds of Less” you would see that this guy is a cancer. Esecially since he cares absolutely zero about playing defense. He has to be forced to and yet he still whines about it.

Link?
Is there a link where I can read up more on this rumor?

It's not a rumor.
It was an Amar’e twitter joke. That’s all.

I think the rumor is goofy... My initial sense is that the Lakers do that deal, since the clock is ticking on this current team's championship window...
Amar’e > Bynum in the here and now…
I would ABSOLUTELY DEFINITELY POSITIVELY make sure that a couple bad contracts of [sasha, morrison] bench players [sasha, morrison] were also shipped off [sasha, morrison] so that the team could turn around and deal Amar’e and start retooling at the appropriate juncture.
Right now the Lakers are in a lot of trouble, salary-wise, between Kobe and Pau and Bynum and the re-signed LO and the $5M contracts for the ilk of Sasha and Fish and Walton and Morrison are actually doubled by the luxury tax.
Not one of those are $10M guys…
You move Bynum and filler for Amar’e and use Amar’e for a year or two then make him go away and clear a little space…
Then again, there is something to the idea of keeping Bynum to build around. Still, given they have Pau — how many 1st string Centers does a team need?

Pau’s natural position isn’t at center though…

I used to think that. Not anymore.

Key is natural position
He can play center. I’d argue he’s more effective with a more physical center next to him. There’s a reason our strong-side zone worked — packing the paint with two seven footers is a huge obstacle to opposing teams. If Bynum regains his spring (which is extremely likely), then not only do we have a good defensive lineup, we lead to the situations in which Bynum and Gasol are playing volleyball on the offensive boards, which is demoralizing for every team in the league.

gasol would be one of the best centers in the nba—he’s already proved it.

I know, but his NATURAL position isn’t at center it’s at power forward.

and how is pau supposed to work with Stat?
Pau already had issues with his #s of touches…only going to go down with Stat on the team.

Wasn't Pau more upset with...
the ball not going down low into the post where it was most effective than touches for himself?
I kinda remember him saying that he and Andrew have mismatches in the post but the ball never finds its way into the post and then Phil coming out in the media and telling Pau to direct his criticisms at the guards.

This is a nice way of saying give me more touches
I don’t think the man would be happy about adding another start PF/C to the roster.

To clear space?
There’s no way in hell we’re under the luxury tax in the near future. Trying to bank on “clearing space” is plain silly. We’re always going to be over the cap for the near-foreseeable future, and making big moves to dump salary is definitely not a smart thing to do.
All ignoring the fact that Bynum’s upside is worth far more than Stoudemire’s scoring prowess naturally. Do realize how bad of a defender and lackluster of a rebounder he is?

Don't think we need to weaken ourselves defensively
For what is more or less another version of Pau Gasol…except not as good.

Yuck
All his scoring can’t make up for the fact that 1) he’s a cancer in the locker room 2) he has no work ethic and doesn’t care about improving his game 3) he’s an atrocious defender. Definitely don’t want him here.

No Thank You
Stoudmire plays no D, I don’t to see him in a Laker uniform
There are basic Fundamentals that are needed to move forward in this game. Always keep your guard up at all times to avoid being caught in a trap. Overcome the fouls that will be commited against you REBOUND AND PRESS ON. ADJUST to the LimeLight: ALL-STAR PLAYERS ARE ALWAYS THE CENTER OF ATTENTION. Know what your role is and play your position. Undecided
As much as I would love to see Amar’e in a Lakers uni, I can’t see the Lakers trading him. The only way I can see Bynum go to the Suns is if LA can’t re-sign Lamar Odom &/or Trevor Ariza. Either way, this isn’t really relevant considering the source, if really did come from Twitter…..

I love this part
“the Lakers would get a monster of a player who would no doubt submit to Bryant”
On what planet do you live, and have you actually been keeping up with Phoenix Suns news? Or do you just watch NBA.com and YouTube highlights?
One of the main reasons Amare has been shopped for over the past two years is his cancerous, me first attitude. Amare wants to be THE MAN. This is why a trade to Golden State has become so popular lately, as Amare could finally be the main man, flanked by Ellis, Captain Jack (although that’s a RISKY pairing, if you ask me), and maybe Curry, if the Warriors get their way.

amar’e to the lakers for bynum seems very unlikely to happen for several reasons. number one, such discussion between the two teams has never taken place. secondly, the suns are trying to clear space and would not do so by taking on bynum’s hefty contract. further, there aren’t that many touches to go around to all of the guys on our current roster; therefore acquiring a player who complained about not getting enough touches in phoenix wouldn’t make sense. finally, the lakers and suns are rivals. it’s hard to imagine two teams making a trade involving players of this caliber within the same division. that said, amar’e has the potential to be one of the best big men in the nba, provided he plays for the right coach— a la phil jackson. take away all of the aforementioned reasons as to why this trade will not happen, and you pretty much have a fair trade, although bynum is still unproven. he has been unable to still healthy for an entire season. i think lakers fans are hoping he can become a consistent force and not just presence for stretches.

Bynum played all 82 games in his sophomore year in the NBA from 2006-2007.

Not to mention that his injuries are largely overstated. We’re not talking about stress-related injuries like Yao and T-Mac. There isn’t a person alive that can withstand a 200-lb human fall directly onto your knee. Those two injuries are pretty much just dumb luck.
by j-smoove on Jun 29, 2009 5:35 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
any time you have an mcl tear, i would hardly call that injury an overstatement. a knee injury is as serious as injury if not the most serious injury there can possibly be in sports.

Yeah, but that wasn’t what you were saying. You said he hadn’t had a healthy season yet.. and he had. Just pointing it out.
by intuitive on Jun 30, 2009 12:58 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
to play 50 games or less in one out of three seasons is a terribly low amount of games for a guy everyone is hoping becomes the future centerpiece of the lakers.

not in amar'e's wildest dreams
There isn’t a way in the world this trade would ever happen. Championship or not, the Lakers are undoubtedly still smarting from getting punked by the Celtics in 2008 on the defensive end.
In a perfect world, the Lakers would’ve had Bynum’s defensive presence all year long. It’s one of the main reasons they were willing to have him work his way back to playing speed throughout the playoffs, never once wanting to bring him off the bench.
Amare is one of the worst man-to-man defenders the NBA has ever seen. He doesn’t even try, or care to try. No natural innate defensive instincts. He’s probably the last big-name player in the league they’d even consider working with.
by j-smoove on Jun 29, 2009 5:28 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
the only good aspect of Amare's defense is...
his weakside shot blocking. Think of Birdman. But that was before the microfracture. Now, it’s a rarity.

for someone who is claiming to be a lakers fan, your responses sure seem shallow. where were you when this blog was up and running? blogging for the rockets, magic? surely it’s convenient for you to come in and proclaim yourself a laker fan NOW that they won the title, albeit your sophomoric posts with cheesy attempt at humor and even cheesier attempt at undermining other fans’ posts simply make you look like an idiot; ll say it again, attack the posts the not the person u shit head. that’s what i took issue with—and it wasn’t even my post. otherwise, keep your mouth shut and wash the wheels on the bandwagon.

nice chaucer. I’ve been posting long throughout the playoff run. Once again, you pull an EPIC Fail. Looking at the sites someone posts on does NOT tell you who they root for.
I actually work for a website called HomerTV, and I’ve been their biggest Laker fan for the past 3 years running. Two years ago, I discovered PoundingtheRock, and I got hooked, as I was becoming increasingly interested in seeing what the opposition thought, since I pretty much saw the NBA through forum blue and gold colored glasses. I never bothered to actually see what SBNation was about until this past NBA season, and this happened only once ESPN launched their TrueHoop network. This opened my eyes to blogging networks, and I fully began to explore SBNation. Since then, I’ve joined most of the other blogs of teams I feel inclined to comment on. SS&R is actually one of the last ones I joined because I preferred Forum Blue & Gold.
Now, if you don’t mind, why don’t you take your own childish, moronic posts back to where they belong… maybe the ESPN Fanboards? I dunno. Really, I don’t have time for your freshmore attempts at counter insults. Because really, you make it too easy. Try not to question someone’s team loyalty, age, posts, or anything of the like until you perform your own review of yourself. Maybe then you can actually grow up.
And yes, I did notice you didn’t even bother to reply to the point of the above post, but instead took it as a random chance to make an attack. Now who’s the adolescent?

NOOOO WAYYYY
this would be retarded. The lakers are already good enough to win with the team we have now. And bynum is a monster in the making. I would kick myself if we dealt bynum to phoenix, only to lead them to a title in the future. The lakers have nothing to worry about as is. IF anything, we need to be tougher inside defensively. when you have kobe and pau, offense is never going to be our problem.
and amare has been a public baby (whinning about touches/time/coaching), at least bynum hasnt had an ego inflation yet. KEEP BYNUM.
