Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

The guy the Lakers actually kept...

The number 59 pick seems to have stayed with LA... Chinemelu "Junior" Elonu (6'10" PF/C, Nigeria/Texas A&M, age 22) He didn't even have a Draft Express profile. The only YouTube link was a short clip of a tame dunk videotaped from a small, flickering TV screen. Oh, and a clip of him being introduced at a football game. The "take" I delievered at the time of his workout for the Blazers was this: "A 'poke' is an old slang name for a bag, so if you buy 'a pig in a poke,' you don't get a look at him..." Wasted draft pick, methinks.

their other draft picks werent exactly gamechangers….if anything they were a message to sasha and farmar to get it in gear or else they are going to face competition. And plan D back up plans if Ariza and brown dont come back.

number 59 may also be a sign that mbenga might be out of a job if he ask for too much.

DJ can’t ask for a new contract. His contract is only up if Mitch decides not to pick up his option.

No, I don’t think we did anything in this draft but save money and collect future 2nd round picks, which in my opinion makes it a very successful draft if you are interested in playing for the present at a potential championship level for a few years. The future picks might come in handy down the line too, possible trade bait once it’s time to go out a get us a serious PG.

Yeah, that might be stretching it a bit though. I kind of wanted them to land Ty Lawson in this draft but I didn’t figure that had a chance in hell of happening. It’s the Tar Heel junkie in me!

I was with you...

Ty Lawson would have fit beautifully with us. I would have traded all my draft picks for him.

Has anyone heard about this Legends event with some type of poker deal wrapped into it with Kareem and Jerry West? I caught a commercial about it the other day one t.v.

Long before there was LBJ, there was another physically talented power forward prowling the hardwood.

This is a great video of one of my favorite players, Chuck, King Charles, Turrible, however you know him, meet him again here. He loved the game, and was AWESOME!
