Sources: Shaq to Cavs
The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Phoenix Suns have come to an agreement on a blockbuster trade that sends Shaquille O'Neal to Cleveland to team with LeBron James, according to sources.
The deal has been agreed to in principle and is expected to be finalized Thursday, according to sources.
Cleveland will send Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic to Phoenix for the future Hall of Famer.

Honestly,
I think this is to good to be true. Kobe will put the stamp on his legacy with the Big Twitterer on the same team with the Chosen One.
Ooooh, I can’t wait.
Time to kill two birds with one stone if the Cavs can make it to the Finals next year!
Bynum’s going to have no mercy on Shaq.

I am surprised about this one
I mean the Suns were a good fast-paced team before Shaq got there, then they got worse. He just isn’t the same player anymore. This will slow the any fast paced action the Cavs plan on having.
GO BRONCOS IN 2009 AND BEYOND!!
2009 NBA Champions L.A Lakers
2009 NBA Finals MVP Kobe Bryant
Just don't think it's a good fit.
And I’m not being a hater. I like both players. But how’s LeBron going to charge into the paint with Shaq in his way?
Apparently the Cavs are still shopping for a shooter as well
So let me get this straight, the team that finished with the league’s best record last year and was a “lock” to make the finals is now going through major renovations? Newsflash, teams that good not named the Florida Marlins don’t have to make major trades in the offseason. Hmmm maybe Mo Williams wasn’t the solution or even an all star at that. This just proves that the Cavs were to their credit huge over-achievers, and that the Eastern Conference is still the Eastern Conference
Meh
The biggest thing Cleveland has been missing for several years is a solid post presence. Orlando’s biggest advantage against Cleveland was that they always had one frontcourt player they didn’t have to guard (Varajeo, Wallace) and thus Howard had freedom to roam, a rather dangerous proposition for any team. Cleveland’s role players simultaneously choosing to choke during the series didn’t help, but the moment Orlando shut down Cleveland’s shooters by playing off Varajeo or Wallace, they could force LeBron to go for 50 every night. By the end of the series, he was downright exhausted at the load he had to bring, a downright miraculous achievement because we’ve seen LeBron go for near-48 minute runs in multiple, consecutive games in the playoffs before.
Now, they have Shaq to command the double team down low. As far as driving lines go, I think that’s slightly overrated. It’s up the offensive coordinator to create the proper spacing for cutting lanes to be available, some of which will because Shaq will command at least a semi-double team. Granted, given how poor Cleveland’s offensive coordination has been, this might be a problem, but it’s not as big an issue as people are saying it will be.
Oh, and on the topic of where this takes Cleveland, I always thought they were constructed to beat Boston, and they probably still can. This trade was made to beat Orlando, although I still think Orlando causes too many matchup problems if Nelson comes back healthy and the Magic resign Turkoglu. Shaq is a piss-poor pick-and-roll defender at this point at his career, and he’s not going to help a whole lot in this regard (granted, Big Z was pretty bad at defending the P&R too, but my point still stands).
Cleveland’s backcourt is still too small though. With Pavlovic gone, West has to guard a good chunk of opposing wing players for most of the game, and although he brings a lot of effort, his size is always going to hurt him on that end. Can you imagine West trying to guard Kobe for significant stretches in a hypothetical (probably not so hypothetical now, but I digress) Finals? LeBron can’t be expected to guard Kobe for that long or he’ll get worn out too quickly. Cleveland is probably praying someone like Sam Young falls to them at #30 tomorrow.
All this means is that...
Lebron’s run in CLE is DONE.
He will be a Knick for sure now.
Well, we're waiting....
Second
If LeBron can’t win, he’s gotta lose faith in the Clevland organization. Shaq is a Band-Aid – he himself said this upcoming season is most likely his last one in the NBA. I see this similar to when the Lakers got Payton and Malone for that one season – taking a future hall of famer for his last season, hoping he still has something left in the tank.
If Clevland doesn’t make it to the finals, expect to see LeBron in blue and orange next season.
Blind devotion.

That’s exactly what I think will happen. LeBron knows this.
It really makes no sense, because even if it works out, they have to let him go to get another top flight talent for the next season. Retooling again.
It makes no sense.
Look at it from Ferry's perspective
This is probably the best trade he could have made without sacrificing his cap space for 2010 (i.e. trading for Jamison or Chandler). He replaces the corpse of Ben Wallace and Pavlovic’s minute production with 25-30 minutes of Shaq.
He’s going to have to get a star in free agency next year no matter what happens this year, so this was probably the best short-term deal he could make. Granted, I don’t think it’s enough to bring them over the top, but that’s another issue entirely.
KOBE's Legacy
This trade has got to have Kobe salivating. Kill 2 bird with one stone, and get his 5th? If you think the Lakers no longer have any motivation, we just got one more reason to watch basketball this year.
The only thing that would be sweeter if the Lebron and Shaq get trade to Boston.
Rondo, Pierce, Lebron, KG, Shaq……. okay now thats a scary lineup. Shaq and Lebron still arent gonna be enough to stop the repeat. GO LAKERS
If the Cavs and Lakers...
meet in next year’s Final’s, the Xfactor is:
Phil Jackson, because he can fuck with Shaq’s game/head all day long.
Well, we're waiting....
